The 3rd base finalists in the NL aren't too great after David Wright

I've stopped taking the gold glove awards seriously

Statistically, David Wright is the worst of the three. Nolan Arenado and Juan Uribe were statistically two of the best fielders in all of the majors.

These are just what I think based on looking at statistics. There are a lot of positions that have two good defensive players that stand out and some positions where it's kind of tough to award one of them a gold glove.

Arenado is a wizard with the glove. I really enjoy watching him play defense.

Not sure about Cano, but otherwise the list seems reasonable.

I agree with you on both of those things.

Andy Dirks is the 4th best outfielder on his team. Seriously.

It could have been A LOT worse. They could have decided to give one to Jeter this year anyway.

Surprised I didn't see Mike Trout's name on the list. I guess since he split time in CF and LF he didn't qualify for either.

Based on what? Advanced statistics show he's quite a bit better than both Torii Hunter and Austin Jackson.

That would be the only thing that makes sense to me.

He's qualified in center (almost 200 more inning in CF than Lorenzo Cain), but didn't have a great year. That being said, it was drastically better than Adam Jones. The top 5 CFs according to UZR were
1. Lorezno Cain
2. Colby Rasmus
3. Leonys Martin
4. Jacoby Ellsbury
5. Brandon Barnes
last. Adam Jones

Well, the people that give out the award are not always anywhere near right or on point themselves.

See - Palmeiro, Rafael 1999.

But they're managers and you aren't! Clearly their opinion means more than your's.

I have said this many times in other places, and I feel the same about a lot of the folks I have dealt with here on this site over the past 6 months.

There certainly are otherwise average Joe posters that know more and have better insight than many of the paid professional talking heads out there. And, other than having favorite teams, we posters have no special agendas when we post.
