Yep, NHL.com also shows 18,824 for attendance. I wonder what the guy on the radio was talking about?

That would mean it wasn't a sellout if attendance was 18,824. (246 short)

They count the 100% as a sellout.. I don't think many people knew they increased the seating capacity of the arena. I found out when the Amerks played there and they said "They broke the arena attendance record with 19,070" I thought how did they do that? Then I read in the paper that they added some standing room or something and did some reconfiguration near the press boxes.

They need to work on their advertising a lot better. Two years ago they did not have a sell out against TORONTO of all teams. I was listening to WGR and the callers were pissed because they would have gone if they knew this but everyone assumed it was sold out. During the Sabres v Flyers game on NBC Doc E said they have very few tickets left for the season so people (myself included) assume the tickets would be bought up.

Bad work by the Sabres and WGR for not saying something like "Some seats still available". It doesn't make sense when you have a several thousand people waiting list for season tickets. Again, bad PR work.
