your problem is you think that, just because a team loses to one team, and beats another, the team that they lost to is automatically better than the team they beat. Of course, anybody who has ever watched sports understands that is very often not true.

If it were, then the Patriots wouldn't be good because they lost to the Dolphins who lost to the bills who lost to the.....see my point, moron?

O I get it!!!! He's using the we beat them, who beat them game!!!!

Alright Illinois lost to Georgia Tech(lol) who lost to Vanderbuilt(bigger lol)

Congrats!!! you won a home game against a team worse than Vandy!!!

NEXT PLEASE.

is this really a rivalry game? cuz when your opponent is a major bb school in a large city & only fills out 75% of their arena.......and its the only game you play this year ==> and to top it off you are ranked 1st in the nation

i seriously doubt thats a rivalry game......

you are right. how dare I suggest that the two best programs of the last 30 years on the west coast, that play in the same conference, are rivals. I don't know what I was thinking.

YOU HAVE OWNED ME AGAIN, GOOD SIR!!!

It was as much of a rivalry games as Cuse's game @ NC State was a true road game... that is to say, Yes slapdick, of course it's a rivalry game. That's what you call it when you play a rival.

Seriously what is your IQ?

Missouri Big Guy

I'm waiting for the avalanche of excuses and ad homonym's:10: from Mr. Pretentious.

I honestly don't know what else you can come up with to substantiate your opinions except more biased opinions. I guess this argument will continue with all my stats of SOS, oppD, Oppo wins vs top 100, 50, 25 while you continue with your eye test which received an F today as they did vs Mich.

The difference between the Marquette game was Wisconsin clearly controlled the game for majority of the game while the Mich game was actually controlled by Michigan's except for the last few moments

Please bring more tears of excuses to fill up the tub that you've already filled.

ya a tough fought road victory is much worse than controlling marquette at home all game and winning by 6.

cut to more quoting of rpi, bpi, SOS, oppD, OppO, blah blah blah.

not that I care about experts picks since most experts are retards, but i do think it is hilarious that not one of these guys picked Wisconsin to make the final four, and EVERY one of them picked us:

also if you were deserving of the #1 claim, maybe you should start by getting ONE LITTLE MEASLY VOTE first...

Comparing outcomes vs common opponents is a method used to rank or select teams in postseason play for many sports. But since you lol @ the idea of doing this that clearly makes it contempt.

That wasn't my only reason but I can enlighten you for fun. How about a stronger SOS, higher RPI ranking or the better record vs teams ranked 51-100. Oh, I'm sorry those statistics must be irrelevant when comparing teams just like AZ vs UW.

i refer you to three posts ago, where i correctly predicted the future in which you would start quoting rpi, bpi, blah blah blah. Does Wisconsin have a better QBR than Arizona as well?

Ok so A. Wisconsin has a better resume than Zona overall but who cares? Both are 1 seeds right now. B) Nebraska is not evrn close to the worst team in the b10. C) Illinois (quite likely ) isnt any damn good. The illini have one ok win, a bad loss to gt, got dominated by the only elite team theyve played. Illini MAY finish behind nebraska in the b10. Anyway, im kicking UL out of my top 16 and replacing them with cincinnati for the moment

RPI IS NOT A MEASURE OF TEAM STRENGTH!

Didn't you start a thread about this and didn't I already correct you on it?

RPI is a measure of resume, not team strength.

You get a high RPI by scheduling road/neutral games and avoiding really really bad teams.

Stronger SoS doesn't make you a better team either (no matter what SoS you're using) SoS is a measure of your schedule, and it's pretty meaningless when comparing team strength as it's just an average and gives you no real indicator of the individual teams you've actually played.

So in short, stop quoting numbers that you don't understand. "This number is better, so this team must be better!" isn't always true.

Yeah Marquette probably isn't in your top 6 wins. And you barely beat them without Mayo lol.

Again, no eye test.

Florida at home with half their team gone?

Iowa at home by 4?

And you are picking on true road wins for Zona? May be time to get institutionalized.

1.) Every non-homer knows the final score was not indicative of the game as it really should've been a 10-15 pt win.

2.) HALF the team? Math 101 here was questioning my IQ.

3.) Iowa who is an equivalent to SD st. and we had our worst shooting performance and yet still had our best comeback in ages and won the game. If anything this displays we can be off and still beat elite teams further proving my stance.

While all that is true trolly, to be fair there really isnt any other way to measure teams aside from metrics. Of course rpi is BY FAR the worst available one to use but its also the best known

this is where you couldn't be more wrong. The simple way to measure teams is by watching them and understanding the sport you are watching.

I'd rather be accurate than popular.

BPI, Sagarin, Kenpom are all better for ranking team strength as opposed to resume.

(he won't quote Kenpom or Sagarin though as they both have Arizona ahead of Wisconsin)

this is where you couldn't be more wrong. The simple way to measure teams is by watching them and understanding the sport you are watching.

When unable to watch all the games (has anyone here seen even 10% of the division 1 games this season?) the eyeball test has a glaring flaw. No eyeballs on the game, no eyeball test.

If you want to account for all of the games played, the various rating systems are the only ones that can include all of the games and do it objectively.

Yes, I'll trust the eye test over a ranking system on any given game, but until I can watch them all, I have to put some faith in the metrics.
