"There's been some outcry over the players not included on the 2011 All-Star game ballot. The NHL confirmed to us that any player not on the ballot -- like grand snubs Alex Semin of the Washington Capitals and Patrick Sharp(notes) of the Chicago Blackhawks -- can still be added to the All-Star game when the NHL names another 36 players to the six the fans vote in.

In other words: You don't have to be one of the chosen 100 to eventually play in the All-Star game".

I just don't understand why players like Kessel and Umberger made the ballot while players like Giroux and Semin got snubbed. Is it simply because every team had to have at least two players represented? Why in the fuck are many of these potential all-stars not even worthy? Is this game not supposed to showcase the top talent in the Nhl THIS season? Heck, even Bob should be on the ballot statistically speaking. He's tied for 2nd in wins, tied for 5th in save percentage and 7th in goals against average. By all means, he's been a top five goalie in the entire Nhl so far. They've listed 18 goaltenders ahead of him...

Also, why on earth are we voting on all-stars already when some teams are only 15 or fewer games into the season? It just seems like a big, fat joke to me. None of the selections will have anything to do with how that player has performed so far this season or will perform between now and January. It is sad.

for example, i've written giroux in 4 times this morning, and i'll probably continue to do so 5-10 times a day until voting closes.. how stupid is that?
