And what about Burkehead? He kept drives alive... I think you could really use him more as well. Like having our own Danny Woodhead out there. I was really impressed with the kid. And then they took him out.

He does seem like he could be more of a traditional 3rd down back..... Then again, I think Gio's new role is going to be limited to 3rd downs. Hill has earned the job.

They will split carries between Hill and Bernard, keep them both fresh and maybe even do a little two HB formations, spread Gio out in motion, use both HB's to stay in and block on blitzes, etc.

Bernard has done well also, so I am not opposed to both getting about 12-15 carries a game, keep them both fresh as the game wears on and burn those defenses up.

Don't worry, we knew this was going to happen with Dalton too BengalDoug. Dalton seems to always do decent in 1pm Sunday games locally televised, but you stick that deer under the lights, and well, you know that analogy. Dalton will never win us a playoff game because there are too many people watching.

PS...As an update to the head shaving....I forgot to shave my head last Thursday. I shaved my head late Saturday night before the Jags game, and then since it was a Thursday night game, I forgot to shave it. I normally only shave it Saturday night. Well, we get ass kicked by Cleveland, then I shave it last night, and we go to NO and beat the Saints.

6-0 with a shaved head
0-3-1 when not shaving head

I don't think even my lucky shaved head works during prime time games though, so it would have been jinxed anyways last week by prime time.

PSS...Gresham should get fined by the team for stupidity. I am sick and tired of him fighting for extra yards with the ball just floating away from his body in one hand. Catch the damn ball, get as many yards as you can with a secured ball and just go the F down. I am tired of Gresham's shit.

PSSS...I guess it just goes to show that the heart of our defense is our LB's. Get Lamur, Maualuga and Burfict all on the field together and healthy and we could have a playoff caliber defense down the stretch. I never would have thunk it with Maualuga. He was so maddingly bad over the two years we lost in the playoffs to the Texans, that I wouldn't have thought he held the defense together. Seemed like he was always out of position.

Oh, you know, the normal..... Rey M is quality linebacker, Andy Dalton is a good quarterback, the Bengals win in a place that's impossible to win, we have a running game, and we take care of the ball. Just another day at the office.

I got a couple of updates on my phone and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I wonder if the media will give the Bengals any credit for winning in a really tough place to win, or if they will just say the Saints suck

The Bengals looked good. Can't take that from them. They looked motivated.

But the Saints looked horrible. Brees missed open passes, their defense was terrible (who gives up a 60 yard run with the clock running out before half?), the crowd was quiet, etc., etc.

I guess I have to watch the replay on game rewind tomorrow.
On the plus side, we're 3-0 when i dont watch the games. So I think I'll keep myself busy for the next few Sundays

My discovered team jinx, jinx-breaker....

6-0 when I shave my head before game
0-3-1 when I forget to

So you stop watching football, and I will continue to shave my head regardless of the day.

Did you notice, or was it just me....Dalton looked like all business today. No smiling, no horsing around, no rallying guys...he was just hurry up get me the ball back, commanding the huddle...only 1 slow play call that led to a timeout instead of rushed plays, timeouts being blown, pre-snap penalties, etc.

Dalton/Hill/Green looked really good today.

Too bad it will never lead to a playoff win, because all playoff games are prime time games, THAT IS WHY!

I need to watch it again. I went into it figuring we'd lose so I wasn't even all that worked up during the game. When it got to the 4th quarter it was just sort of eerie.... We didn't even have one of those Marvin moments where we did something dumb and made it more interesting than it had to be. Weird day.

My jinx is official after this week. I think we're unbeaten when I don't comment in the game threads prior to, or during the game. Really kept my posting to a minimum. not that anyone cares..

What if the Saints really do suck? They are 4-6 overall, and 3-2 at home.

I think it's pretty clear they suck..... But they'll always be dangerous. If Brees gets hot and the game is indoors, they can beat anyone. Look what they did to Green Bay at the beginning of the month.

The good news for us is that their next 2 are against Baltimore and Pittsburgh. I don't see them going 0-4 against our division and both of those teams are vulnerable against the pass. I think it's a particularly tough match-up for Baltimore given that it's in the dome..... I suppose it depends on which Flacco shows up.

I think they do suck, but why can't it be both?

It can be both, and they did play well, but after some of the performances they've put up the last month and a half, they aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt from the media. It'll be, "the Bengals played well because the Saints suck."

And they would be justified in saying that. I'm not buying in off one aberrant good game. Dalton's going to have to beat Houston on the road next week, and continue his solid play before he can be forgiven his debacle vs the Browns on national tv.

It doesn't matter how well he plays the next two weeks. I can see us beating the Texans and the Bucks at 1pm on Sunday on the road. Problem is, none of this is prime time and prime time games are what the playoffs are.

So what?

We get into the playoffs again, win our division after we get slaughtered against Denver in Prime time next month. I can see us winning the division, getting another home playoff game and then getting our asses handed to us again in the first round. If we make the playoffs, I would just start Campbell and be done with it. We can lose just as well with Campbell as we can Dalton. May as well stick someone in there that stands a chance, because Dalton sure the hell doesn't.

I don't remember the last time we kept getting our asses handed to us in losses. I mean even in the shitty years of the 90's, we may have had a bad game or two, and we sure lost alot, but we were typically in every game, just not good enough to win. We have gotten destroyed by two of the 3 AFC division leaders, and 3 of the 4 if you count Cleveland last week who wound up in 1st place due to that game.

43-17 LOSS to NE
27-0 LOSS to INDY (we had like 120 yards of offense, something like that)
24-3 LOSS to CLE (we had like 160 yards of offense, something like that)

94-20 we were outscored by those teams. We have a prime time game against Denver, we are going to get killed, by yet another team with a top QB and leading their division.

38-9 Denver? Sound about right?

We don't deserve to make the playoffs. If we are not even going to give a playoff team a game, we shouldn't even be allowed to make it. That is my perspective anyways.

Never give up, Crash......as bad as Dalton has been, occasionally, he really is not to blame for the New England or Indy games.......those were team losses........and if we are good enough to win the division, we do deserve to be in the playoffs. Sure, prime time games are not promising, but for this year and next at least we have to ride the horse we've been given.....

Dalton doesn't need any pressure.

what he needs to do is hand the rock to Hill more often.

he's mediocre at best, and some days he flat out sucks. his athletic receivers bail him out time and time again. I wish we could get a decent QB in Cincinnati, but it will be awhile.

This......is what I have been screaming......when Gio comes back, they need to split carries more like 60/40 in Hill's favor, and feature Gio a little more as a receiver......
