Why must you act superior to every fan that chimes in with an idea ? I will make you a bet Belt will never amount to anything near above average in the Majors.....He is Dave Kingman without the power at this point.

The bolded part is a reasonable take, I disagree I think he's the new JT Snow which is somewhat but not much above average for a 1B (and perfect for OUR TEAM because of Posey)....but Dave Kingman without the power?

.236 lifetime BA, .302 OBP, and no glove vs what Belt is already doing and what he can likely do as he enters his late 20s? It's comments like that that make it hard to have a reasonable debate with you. Pick another comparison. Like JT Snow for instance.

JT career OPS+ 105
JT career WAR/600 PA 1.00

Simply put, JT wasn't HALF the player BB9 already is. We all love JT, and his D was great. However, his two best years were 97 and 04 (135, 146 OPS+, 2.9, 3.3 WAR). He never had another year above 113, 2.0.

Don't let those two very nice years fool you -- JT was overall an average player with superb D making up for below average O.

BB9 is already better than JT ever was save his two excellent years. BTW, JT was 29 and 36 when he had those years. BB9 is 25. Maybe Belt never gets any better (although that's pretty unrealistic), but even at THAT he's above average.

For comparison's sake, Kong had a career 115 OPS+ and 1.38 WAR/600 PA. In other words, he was average for his career. However, he had a few very nice years in a row in Chicago and his first year as a Met, and a FSY with the A's in 84. Interestingly, he hit his stride at 29, much like JT.

The problem with Kong was that his career dWAR is -17.1, which is exactly the opposite of his career WAR of 17.1, meaning that his defense cost his teams approximately 34 losses below replacement over the course of his career. He was a stone glove turd in the field. He's kind of the opposite of JT and BB9 in almost every respect.

Um...reading comp fail...he said Belt was the 'younger, higher rated' player not Pill

Thank you for the substance and thank you for saying Pill was a higher rated player; or implied it.

What I based it on was what Pill offered when he came to the majors.. He absolutely showed better pop in his bat and all around better better than Belt. Belt suppository had a better glove but I never saw it then. Also Belt wasn't getting it done and they tried him in the OF... remember how that played out?

He has been given every excuse and no he hasn't been the player the Giants hoped for.

Yeah sorry man but what MSG said.

We've seen a lot of AAAA players (first basemen are our specialty lol)

I think it's the easy road to look at minor league numbers and say they will translate to majors. I have more proof that it doesn't.

I do think Belt's disappointment may have to do more with him being excessively hyped and following the emergence of Posey and Panda. Fans started to believe the farm system was producing hitters

I wouldn't give up on Belt yet. He's done some pretty good things in stretches

I have a good Dave Kingman story about his sour personality and explains why he was hated so much by the media

Kingman was constantly giving a new female reporter a tough time in the locker room , it was so bad the other male reporters approached him as a group and asked him if he would give her a break , a week later Kingman gives her a nicely packaged box with a bow and said he was sorry .

Inside the box was a dead rat !!

Mets announcers always brought this story up when mentioning DK , Kong was hated

He may look average on Paper but he blows on the field......

And there's your classic interweb asshat retort: "Yeah, you've got stats and all, but HE SUCKS."

Well played dolt, well played.

Internet rules of thumb re trolls:

When someone says he "banged" someone, he didn't. Probably never "banged" anyone but himself.

When someone says he is a "playa" or a "balla" or any such term, he isn't.

The more someone has to puff themselves up, the more they need it, because certainly no one else will.
