Your saying (first) "take a draft pick or a middle of the road reliever for him" and (now) "5th round {...} is a relatively high draft pick" gives me the impression that you really don't know much about baseball. Add to that your annoying attitude and you are probably very close to being banned.

Ass-hattery is not a bannable offense.

Yes I am saying cut your losses now because this kid just doesn't have it, you can mock me all you want but He is not helping in this lineup , Put Scutero at third, Panda at first and Nakata at second.......... I bet you I played more baseball and went further in the sport than you ever did Smart Alec...

Hey, I vent about Belt myself.

I am not against trading him. I have voiced the desire myself on these very boards.

But to say we should try to get "a middle of the road reliever for him" is typical Internet soap-box screaming.

If you did that, we would mock you, but we would also have the conversation. When a guy none of us knows says it, it gets mocked AND ridiculed.

Middle of the road reference was a figure of speech due to frustration of watching this triple
A caliber player at this point struggling at our expense in the Majors......

To me what's disappointing about Belt is what he looks like he is turning out to be is maybe JT Snow, another slick fielding lefty 1B with a lack of typical 1B power but a decent OBP. When we all had visions of Will Clark after his minor league success.

So perhaps our new friend, lolojones' lover, is just venting frustration that a guy that was supposed to be an allstar instead is just a decent player. I share that disappointment. But let's be clear, Belt is not crappy, and he's not great. He's solid, like JT

At first I felt he was rushed up into the majors but I am not seeing this potential that others are..... If the Giants had an abundance of power at third or in the outfield I would not be so disappointed in Belt but he seems to lack confidence game in and game out ..... A slick fielding first baseman is fine as long as they have a consistent stick but tits oh a bull without the bat.

I hate to admit it, but there are times I worry he is our James Loney. Still, to give up on him at his age is retarded.

I just had this argument with my dad too.

Curious...

Would you have been in favor if trading Snow for "a middle of the road reliever" 15 years ago?

Moving on from him is OK. But we need a replacement, and we need to get value for him.

17 years ago, we gave up a #3 starter and a prospect to get Snow.

That is value.

You make a valid point, for the money he is not a bad spend at the moment but He has more K's in his short career than base hits.... that is not a good sign IMO unless you are hitting for power with frequency...

He has a particular weakness that is now common knowledge in the league, a pitch that he cannot hit and cannot resist. He often gets that pitch with 2 strikes on him (and strikes out). He has to fix that.
