Who taught you how to write?

Wasn't your original point to show our contractual commitments in the future?

You don't think I used "your" correctly? Shouldn't you re-read what I wrote?
Oh, so you're saying "calling" is a noun, not a verb?

If so, who could blame you for being miffed?

Oh, so you're saying "calling" is a noun, not a verb?

If so, who could blame you for being miffed?

He used 'your' correctly. In the phrase, "calling" is a gerund, which turns the verb into a noun. (A gerund is a noun made from a verb by adding "-ing." The gerund form of the verb "read" is "reading." You can use a gerund as the subject, the complement, or the object of a sentence.) A possessive can (and should) be used on a gerund. For example "Your running every morning is making you healthier" or "Your playing on computers is a waste of your time" or "Her writing is good".

The problem with what he posted wasn't 'your' - it was that what he wrote was not a sentence, though, as there is no verb in it - it is a phrase. He capitalized the first letter of the first word and ended it with a question mark, making it look like a sentence, even though it isn't.

But what's a little grammar mistake between friends? (Oblig. question ;) )

Oh, BTW, here is the link to the Cot's salary spreadsheet for the Giants for the next few years (unless the site auto-loads it). It now contains Cueto's salary, and NO arb amounts (altho it is wrong that it doesn't list Gearrin as being arb-eligible, which he should be with 2 years and 136 days of service time).

I think so. Well, at least all but me - I am apparently the only guy that stayed awake in 8th grade English and heard the lecture about gerunds.

;)

Aren't you the guy that wrote 'Oh, so you're saying "calling" is a noun, not a verb?' ??? (BTW, in that usage, it IS a noun, and not a verb.) So no, you weren't ahead of me, and you were wrong. If you don't believe me, pick up a grammar text and look up 'gerund'.
