you dont know for sure but a 27 year old who gets his first chance to be a #1, i just dont have the faith in him to be a stud... Never said i wouldn't want him on my team, but i dont see him at best to be a low end fantasy #2... Sankey is the mystery box here, i feel like with his role he is already at worst a flex option, so why not take the gamble he will be better vs a player like Gerhart who has a lower ceiling...

again, sometimes mystery boxes are better than the sure thing...

wouldn't you rather have Sammy Watkins than Mike Wallace?? I know i do!!!
Priest Holmes didn't get many touches early in his career the one season he did they drafted Jamaal Lewis to replace him one season later after being Lewis' caddy he was released and joined the Chiefs where he became a RB1 at 26. See it does happen ...of course so does Haley's comet

Lol.. no doubts. . At least this one is debatable.

Recent backs who were backups to start out, traded/cut, given a shot at #1 on the new team, and became fantasy #1's
Priest Holmes
Ahman Green
Micheal Turner
Marshawn Lynch (depending on your take as to what he was in Buffalo)
Just to name a few off the top of my head.
Is not like Gerhert is starting a new trend. If both are "mystery boxes", we've at least had a sneak peak at the one and have somewhat of an idea of what we're getting, the other could be the next Lendale White. Gamble if you want Foot..I wouldn't.
Lynch they didn't get his what was perceived as a surly attitude in Buffalo. Turner was LT's caddy Green was Watter's caddy not much chance to start there similar to Gebhart definitely in situation

This is not close IMO.

I think the difference between Wallace/Watkins and Sankey/Gerhart is the round you have to take them. The RBs are likely to go by the end of the 4th. IMO, the need to draft a productive player in the first 3/4 rounds is very high.

I don't know that Gerhart will be a productive player, but I think he will get more touches than Sankey.

As for the WRs in question, you are looking at a round 7 pick. At that point, you are better off gambling on some upside.

But you are not drafting Gerhart or Sankey to be your number one RB!!! Both look like they will be fantasy relevant, so it is not like taking either in the 4th round is a huge gamble... But i know i would rather pick the player with the higher ceiling as long as they have similar value...

Again, it is not like Gerhart has the greatest opportunity either, he is on jacksonville, and he is not a playmaking RB, he is the bruiser who tires defenses... But is that really what jacksonville needs?? Not sure how great of a playmaker sankey is, but we dont know if he can become that type of player...

To me, this is the exact scenario of when to take the rookie mystery box over the veteran...

Sankey, by a mile.

Don't you guys know not to mess with white guy running backs? Aren't you trying to win a league?

Hillis won me a title. . Mike Alstot was a key cog on another. . And I've seen Woodhead on many a title contender.

it could be a boat!

Both are fairly equal, imo. TEN has the more experienced WRs, so I could see Gerhart getting more touches than Sankey, so I'd give Toby a slight bump. In all reality though, I'd probably just see how they fall in the draft, neither one is worth reaching for.

I know scouting reports are wrong often, but I didn't think any one was projecting Sankey as an immediate every down back coming out of college. Greene's health is something to keep tabs on leading up to wk 1

Revisionist history. Hillis and Alstott were both one hit wonders and Woodhead is a flex at best.

Plus the NFL is much different now than it was around the turn of the century when guys like Alstott posted decent to good stats. It's harder for a RB to make a big impact particularly when said RB has a bruising style like Gerhart.

I dont think there is anything wrong with that style of RB, but I dont think it is great for a bad team... Jacksonville needs the HR hitter, not the RB that tires out defenses... When you play from behind, you stop running as much, so it is a little counterproductive!!!

Considering your initial point is about as racist as it can get.. I'm not going to justify this with further discussion. I actually thought you were just kidding around.

Unfortunately though there is racism in football... there has been articles about transitioning White RBs into other positions... Just like Black QBs, there is racism...

I was, but your response was weak and I felt obligated to point that out.

I trust a guy that has a career ypc over 4. I trust a guy who has little to no competition for lead back duties. Especially when both teams in question are likely to suck, and the other back in question has competition, and is totally unproven.

I heard more about todman than i heard about shonn Greene... But maybe thats because SFNL took him in suicide wayyyy too soon!!!

Both are unknowns at this point, Gerhart to a lesser extent and the Jaguars coaching staff keeps talking him up as the "workhorse" so I'd take him for this upcoming season.

Gerhart > Stankey in a redraft league this year.

Gerhart has medium high ceiling with medium floor. Even if he is just a slightly above average RB in 2014 in terms of yardage, he will likely more than make up for that in goal line TD(s).

Stankey is more unknown. He may have the higher ceiling, and that is still a big "may", but his floor is also a lot lower than Gerhart.

If you already have two RB1 players on your roster, you might want to consider Stankey over Gerhart since you are likely to be in a stable situation if Stankey doesn't pan out. But if you are still looking for you second RB for your roster, Gerhart should be taken before Stankey. There is far less risk involved.

Wallace > Watkins in this draft scenario for 2014.
