I think Mark Jackson and Tom Thibodeau deserved it IMO.
Wow!! So Karl has not only snowed the Denver ownership and fanbase but he has duped the COY voters as well. Thibs, Hollins, or Mark Jackson should have won it.
I think Phil Jackson should have won since he proved his greatness by not coaching the Lakers to a ring... That is all...
Same story every year. He just went further this season than most seasons. What's the beef with Karl? This guy has no superstar on his team and led them to a 3 seed in the West. I have no problem with this.
My point is that Denvers improvement was not as dramatic as other teams like GSW. Which team improved more in spite of injuries? Thibs kept the Bulls alive when they could have just quit. Same with Hollins after they lost Gaye. And they still improved, so whats your point. How many times have you sern a team with no superstars make it to a top 3 seed in the west?
GSW overachieved much more than Denver. So did the Bulls. Denver runs 12 deep. Not hard to win more games if you have virtually no drop off from 1rst to 2nd string. He did what a 'Coach of the Year' should do. He overachieved in the regular season. Its a fairly meaningless award. Tom Thibodeau is obviously the coach of the year at this point but its a regular season award.
Whats all this talk about Mark Jackson being a good coach now?
In terms of preseason expectations, Denver and Golden St both slightly overachieved but were in the realm of where popular thought they would be. Denver just started out slowly and then got really, really hot. Golden St started out hot and then played .500 ball throughout most of the year.GSW overachieved much more than Denver. So did the Bulls. Denver runs 12 deep. Not hard to win more games if you have virtually no drop off from 1rst to 2nd string.
