That is my thinking too. I would guess that he could be up as early as this weekend. Who goes down though? If they send down Tomlinson, they have to depend on Sandoval being the backup for the middle infield. If they send down Johnson, they are back to a 12 man pitching staff.

Looks like Bumgarner has at least one more rehab start coming up in two days. It will be interesting to see if he's activated after that:

I think one of the OFers either gets DL’d or DFA’d (Blanco?) for Panik. Sandoval is a decent UTIL2 and #1 PH, but you need KTs defensive versatility as the UTIL1.

As for Bum, maybe the send Blach/Stratton to Sacto to fine tune?? Maybe they need the #6 guy as a long reliever for the non-Bum starts and Johnson gets sent down instead.

I can see that, too, but that leaves all RHH in the OF. And no real defensive sub. I think Pence either gets traded (no way they release him), or he comes up and Ajax either gets DFA'ed or DL with the GMI (Giants' Mystery Injury).

I think the amount of work he has put in and the moderate success he has had earns him one last short spurt with the big club. I can’t imagine his leash will be long, though. No chance he is traded. Who would take him?? Texas??

I doubt they drop to 12 pitchers until Bum shows he is a 7 IP pitcher.

If they stay at 13 pitchers, then I think we'll see Williamson go down, barring some unknown injury to someone else. I wonder when we hear about Blanco's mystery injury that has kept him out of most games.

Yes and no. Sammy is a football player, so is never hurt. He will straight up lie to the staff about being hurt (according to Kruk, at least).

Should the staff have known he was more hurt than he was letting on? Sure, maybe. But if he is telling them he is fine, what are they supposed to do?

Beede's demotion opens the way for Melancon on the active roster and Tomlinson will most likely get optioned to make room for Panik. Making room for Hanson and Pence are going to be harder. I could see Suarez optioned (which I hope they don't) because Bumgarner will be back soon. Maybe Rodriguez or Johnson get sent down instead. Even if one of those three pitchers get sent down, there is still one more spot to open if all four get activated. I really think Blanco could be gone soon. That would allow for Melancon to be activated from the 60 day. Then, the Giants have to figure out another dfa candidate (most likely Law or Osich, maybe even Jones or M Gomez) for Bumgarner's return on Tuesday. A lot of roster action is coming up!
