Here are some comments from Gore, Roman & Harbaugh

"More rain was in the forecast in the Bay Area, and the 49ers pulled out the cold-weather clothing before working out in chilly conditions with a stiff wind Friday.

Harbaugh expects the field at Candlestick Park to be in good shape considering the grass was replaced before the team's Monday Night game Dec. 19 against the Steelers.

"Admiral Bull Halsey once said, `If you're going to fight in the North Atlantic, then you got to prepare in the North Atlantic.' They're anticipating some rain on Sunday."

Harbaugh doesn't know the Stick yet, the rainfall from the day of the game doesn't matter. At what, 18 feet above sea level? It is the rain during the week that determines how wet the field will be, since the water can't get soaked up by an already damp ground.

I usually hate the war and football quotes, but Harbaugh pulls it off.

Ha ha...yeah, he does pull it off - Marv Levy probably drove you crazy. According to 49ers.com the field is 13.75 feet above sea level...

I would think there is a specific time before the start of the game when the tarp can be removed...At least that makes sense to me...

Yeah, probably before the kickoff, but I'll have to check on that one.

I think the rule states you can leve the tarp on the field up to 11 minutes after kick-off, but I'm not sure - let us know '82

See, this is why I need blue text for sarcasm! I was saying that they probably don't play on the tarp (hence, the before kickoff reference) as a joke because that is so meaningless of an answer due to its obviousness. I can't believe the committee of one (MW49er5) turned down my proposal of blue text. :kickscan:

P.S. I'm assuming NinersFan80 was playing along, but how could I possibly know without blue text?!!!

P.S.S. My explaining of my joke is sarcasm, too, as it is obvious that you understood.

P.S.S.S. I just wanted to add another postscript.

P.S.S.S.S. For good measure (The rest were for bad measure) Ha! Damn you and your rules against blue text!!! (Here in red because I am boycotting all that is blue this week.)

Start using green text. Be a trailblazer.

I was playing along, or I was just being sarcastic because the post sounded like they can keep the tarp on 11 after the kick off, which makes no sense, but yes I was kidding

Edit: reread everything and both you and MW were being sarcastic, I feel stupid. I vote for TEAL to be sarcasm!!

Don't feel stupid, lol, all these levels of sarcasm upon sarcasm is like an influx of double negatives. If you don't see the first negative, it changes the whole meaning of the second negative (to negate the previous one). MW49er5 and I rarely say anything serious to each other. It's like an inside joke in a way.

Yeah I don't pay attention too much to that lol.
But I do think you are right that there should be a designated color for sarcasm or joking

The way I've seen it work is good. If it's obvious sarcasm, there's no need for it. If figuring out that it is sarcasm is part of the humor, same thing. But if the person is being sarcastic but knows that it's subtle or misleading, blue text was used. Not my idea, but saw it on another board and thought it fit, under the limitations mentioned above. I see that it could be abused or annoying if misused or overly used. Then again, some people just don't like any level of sarcasm.

How dare you! Ok, I'll drop it or else Mem49er will beat me and send me home without dinner. (Mem49er apparently owns me. I'm not sure why he decides to "apparently" own me, but whatever, that's his choice. Though I do think there is a pending trade going on. It's pending because if you try to exercise control of something you traded, the trade is nixed. Mem49er is considering whether to retrade and relinquish control or not. The commissioner, of course, must approve. Since I am the commissioner, I don't see the point in trying to trade me. Also, as commissioner, I am declaring independence from the merciless tyrant, Mem49er! (I'm trying to see how many times I can say that name in one post) No, I don't care how lame this post is.)

The problem I personally have with using blue text for sarcasm is once you begin using it you have to use it 100% of the time due to the inverse implication... Although I do like the idea of using teal ;)
