It's a good thing the Giants pitching is so good.

Anyone else notice that Timmeh has used his fastball a lot more this year to strike people out? Probably the most since he's learned the changeup in 2008.

It helps that it has its' 94 mph zip back.

Yep. I always thought that was cool.

Missed the GDT but classic game tonight, game ball to Franchez on that defensive play in the 6th.

Timmy seems to really have his game on this year. Of course he did last year save a horrible August, but I think he learned from that, conditioned better in the offseason, and will return to Cy Young form (even if he loses to Josh Johnson or Halladay or someone).

BTW have you guys checked out the Cardinals' starting pitching? We figured Wainwright down, season over...look at the stats so far for Lohse, Garcia, even McLellan. SSS of course but they may hang around after all.

Garcia comes at less of a shock, but Lohse and McLellan have been nice stories for them. I do expect McLellan to come back down to Earth though, his WHIP is pretty high at 1.41 and he's not a stikeout pitcher so he's at a disadvantage there as well.

Lohse on the other hand has shown no signs of slowing down.

Loshe is going to regress to about 4.00 ERA by the end of the year. Nice #3/#4 numbers, but nothing like the 2.44 he's at now. He's not that good. McLellan will end up closer to 4.50. Again, OK #4 numbers.

The Reds will run away and hide in that division IMO.

This...

They are a team I do NOT want to face in the playoffs. They have good pitching (not Phi or SF pitching, but SOLID pitching) and the HANDS DOWN best O in the NL.

I would not be surprised to see them take it down this year.

But Cal, Marcus/Livin over on DumDumVille just said the Cards have the best O in the league. So, y'know, you can't both be right. I wonder who is...
