Yeah I totally agree it's less sure, but that's what happens when you lose an Allstar closer.

Agreed. Although let's not forget how his saves were usually an adventure. Single, K, walk, walk, K, groundout.

A save is a save is a save eh? :scared: One thing a save isn't is a blown save. I willfully request to be tortured and saved. I'd rather have an adventure than a disaster is what I'm saying. I look forward to Weezy's return, but even still I think we might have enough without him...

Are we forced to offer Weezy arbitration?

Or if we can waive him, and somebody picks him up, are THEY forced to offer him arb (if they don't outright sign him)?

Or if we waive him, and NOBODY picks him up, can we then sign him for whatever we can agree to?

Seems like that's how it should work.

Weezy has no contract past '12, although the G's still own his rights. He is arb eligible. If the G's offer him arb, than he will make at worst 80% of what he made in '12. If the G's do not offer arb (non-tender him), then he becomes a free agent and can sign for whatever he wants.

He will not be waived.

Excellent explanation. Thank you. Repped if possible.

He made $8.5 mill in 2012. 80% of that is $6.8 mill. I love Weezy, but no way is he worth that much now. Not unless the fake beard concession brings in that kind of revenue to the ballclub.
