Just got done talking to my most knowlegdeable Ginat fan friend, and he shares this hope. With the Cain issue aside, the Ginats need bats. And, to that end, they are supposedly looking at Alex Rios as a possible OF add at the break. As he is one of the better bats likely to be moved then, this could be a sign of hope.
Now, that said, if Cain is going to miss a good chunk of change, they could very quickly move into "seller" mode, and just punt this year.

Again, winning it all every other year is still not all that bad.

IMO, there is now zero chance we become buyers this year.

I guess I don't see 6 1/2 games back as an obvious sell time? But, then again, I get accused of not knowing when to give up the fight A LOT.

No, you wait until closer to the deadline when the prices you get for selling rise. And I hope Sabean is only selling stuff we don't need for next year. We don't need to do a total teardown, we can compete in 2014.

This. Even if it's not really his fault, this step should be taken. Reassign him elsewhere in the org. That's what Steinbrenner did with his guys. His managers were given other titles, other responsibilities.

The results are not there.

Four weeks? Um, here's your pink slip.

While we can debate the talent of these hitters, we have the reigning NL MVP, the WS MVP, and guys who have won two of three World Series. It's not like Bam Bam has nothing to work with, even excusing some lack of performance due to injuries.
