Here is some fuel for the fire - Cin is currently ranked 7th in pass defense (204yds/gm) - Can you say 8-in-the-box!

Our QB should only have two more weeks with the training wheels on. This should be another ugly one, and Phi should be even uglier.

Strategy for the game: Go after nate clements until Gore can find something to run through. Then run through that thing until we have to go after nate clements again. If Taylor Mays appears on the field, go after him until he gets benched.

Oh, and put Rogers on that AJ Green character. He just might tear Brock/Spencer/Brown to shreds. And blitz the red headed guy throwing the ball.

That should be the best strategy, Nate Clements is going to be trying to make an interception so bad that he'll be jumping routes. The 49ers would be foolish if they didn't burn him the same way Seattle did in last year's opener. Of course, with this offensive line... I'm not sure the 49ers will have time to catch Nate on double moves.

Who knows though, if the 49ers offensive line follows their preseason pattern of one bad game, one good game, one bad, one good... maybe their regular season pattern will be one good game, one bad, one good.. the Bengals should be a good game for the offensive line.

All these games are so hard to predict. Last year we were so inconsistent.
Everyone's not on the same page yet, but we're still competing. If the O-line can just give Gore a sliver then so much pressure will be taken off everywhere.

Harbaugh's done a good job of not letting everything totally implode so far. If we were blown out against SEA things would be very uncomfortable right now. Hopefully win or lose, we can play much more consistently and keep things close instead of not showing up to some games like last year.

I like to see us continue the aggressive scoring drives after a two possesion lead.... no more of this falling back and playing it safe bullsh*t... we're not good enough to play like that....

keep attacking.

Ha ha. If Smith can't throw successfully against "8 in the box" then the Niners are done for. If the Bengals do stay with 8 in the box at will that means they are dictating to our offense what we can do instead of vice versa. I believe that the 49ers will never get over the hump until their formations and plays dictate to the defense what they must do to try and counter it..

Right on. What do you think the chances of that happenning are though? They've had two-TD leads in both games so far and went in to a shell both times after that. They are only a couple of great special teams returns from being oh and 2 because of that strategy.

In that Seattle game, I honestly thought it was Harbs, believing we had enough control of the game thus limiting what the Cowboys would gameplan against us by running vanilla plays... Now we don't know what was going to happen after the game became 19-17 since Ginn went Madden 12 on everyone.

I think Harbs has no excuse to hold back this time, hopefully that Dallas game is a slap in the face, with a two possesion lead. MAYBE he can go vanilla when it's the 4Q? but both our two possesion leads thus far happen early on/mid of the game thus giving the opponent plenty of time to come back had we gone vanilla.... Now that I think about it, Harbs vanilla/conservation approach were bad timings...

Lol sorry. Weve given up 44 and 41 points respectively in our last two trips to cincy.

This game reminds me of the Chiefs game last year. Before that game you heard talk about how we usually struggle @ the Chiefs. I thought we would win that game last year and I think we will win @ CIN this week. I just hope we don't have a meltdown like we did @ Chiefs last year.

That wasn't even a meltdown, the defense was calling out the 49ers plays before the snap. I don't even know what to call that.

Right, but we squandered a whole 3rd Q before that....

Yeah, we gotta learn to go for the dagger. We can't afford to sit on leads with this secondary. I hope we don't see any more of that 3-man rush with 8 in coverage. We don't have the cover guys for that.
