I thought I saw him tracking the pitches well, and getting into some deep counts. He didn't look over-matched, and by that I mean it seems like a pitcher is going to have to really work him - rather than being able to count on one pitch or location to get him out (see Nate or Rowand).

lol, and as I respond I see Rowand strikeout flailing away.

The Belt situation mirrors the Benji/Posey situation of last year. With Aaron Rowand playing the role of Benji

Belt will have to be overwhelmingly playing out of his head to justify moving the vet (unfortunately)

I second this. gp IS the closer. A game's not over until he shows up...raptor headpiece and arms raised in multi-technicolor glory

I amend my nomination. gp, you contribute way too much to be saved for the late innings

Can we just have a guy, dressed as Raptor Jesus, be the closer?

Agreed. He's our best clutch hitter and leads the team in most major stats.

If Belt starts at 1B then Huff goes to right, Burrell in left, Torres in center. With Nate and Rowand as backups. All it means is that DeRosa probably loses a chunk of playing time, and Ishi gets DFA'd.

Do I have that right? Would someone else need to get cut too?

LOL I forgot about Ross... duh. Burrell better stay hot all year.

With Ross out, yes it's good. When Ross returns, Rowand goes bye bye.

EDIT: Damn you! Fixed it before I could catch you!!

Belt took one to the track - does give the Giants another patient at bat in the lineup

Yeah, I love that about him. With Burrell, Huff, Posey, and Belt you got guys who will work the pitcher, and help balance out the hackers (pablo, sanchez, and torres).
