This team will be so much better with Belt in the everyday lineup. Good at bats everytime.

Nice AB by Fontenot there. Took a coin flip ball and went the other way on the next pitch against a tough lefty.

Torres caught in the run down :(

Really? I thought he looked pretty good against these tough lefties.

It's just me, gp.

I set the standard pretty high as cause for starting him off on the 25 man roster.

He was fooled a bit by Gio's curves and didn't catch up to the high fastball and not much hard contact against Brett Anderson.

Not much to critique, as he's been pretty much impressive all spring but the calibur of the A's starters are a good example of what he'd be facing and I just don't see the need to rush him.

maybe Torres overran 2nd to allow Sandoval to score? he was facing the play the whole time, no reason to get caught like that

That's what I was thinking...except I think Panda would have scored easily on that play either way.

I thought I saw him tracking the pitches well, and getting into some deep counts. He didn't look over-matched, and by that I mean it seems like a pitcher is going to have to really work him - rather than being able to count on one pitch or location to get him out (see Nate or Rowand).

yeah, Panda was halfway to home when the cutoff throw came in - maybe an effort to avoid a collision at the plate?
