LOL @ Helm. He got OWNED on that shift by Winchester. Winchester should have drawn two penalties on Helm and then he keeps the puck and after Vlasic gets the wraparound goal, Winchester decks Helm.

EDIT: On a different front, this is the type of game I've been waiting for Thornton to play. He's finally learned that backchecking is an important part of the game. It leads to offense. Even if he doesn't score there, he probably saved a goal.

EDIT: On a different front, this is the type of game I've been waiting for Thornton to play. He's finally learned that backchecking is an important part of the game. It leads to offense. Even if he doesn't score there, he probably saved a goal.

It should be noted that on the Thornton goal, Burns skates behind Howard, sees that all 3 forwards are deep in the zone, fires a shot that's blocked that gets the DET transition going, then makes the incorrect defensive read on the rush to allow the 2 on 1, making the Thornton backcheck so critical.

The first ten minutes of the third was almost exclusively spent in the Sharks zone, but then the Sharks get one break, come down and score. Sounds like that was the story of the game (I missed the first 2 periods).

It almost makes you wonder what they're doing for the PK in practice or if they're even doing anything PK in practice. They collapse to the net when someone skates toward it, but yet when there's a scramble in the crease the PKers are nowhere to be found. WTH are they doing?

According to DP's blog posts, they've been practicing quite a bit of the PK and always feel pretty good about addressing things, but yeah, I don't understand how that can be.
