NFL Draft: Broncos are high on Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson

Quarterback prospect Garrett Grayson held his pro day on Monday, and a number of teams including the Denver Broncos attended his workout. Grayson ran a 40-yard dash in the 4.5 and 4.6 range and, completed 71 of 74 passes, according to Pauline. He displayed both touch as well as the ability to throw the ball with velocity today, and the reviews of his Pro Day have been positive.

It makes sense that the Broncos would be interested in Grayson. I believe he would be a good fit in Head Coach Gary Kubiak's offense, and this is more than likely quarterback Peyton Manning's final year in the NFL. Also, General Manager John Elway always does his due diligence on the quarterback class in the upcoming draft class.

However, Pauline dropped a bomb at the end of his report that may upset some Broncos fans. If the Broncos draft Garrett Grayson, it could spell the end of quarterbackBrock Osweiler's tenure in Denver.

BTW, those highlights, are not impressive, at all.

Welcome to Silly Season in the NFL. That time of year when 95% of what you hear and read is a complete fabrication.:wtf:

Personally, I'm not buying into any of the anti-Osweiler hype yet.

Believe whatever you want to believe, but most of what is floated out there this time of year is disinformation.

With that being said, if the talk that I've been hearing about Grayson is even remotely true, I wouldn't be surprised if he sneaked into the bottom of the 2nd round.

Haven't seen nearly enough of Grayson to have a first hand opinion of him, but from what I've read he is an interesting prospect. Makes sense that we might be interested in upgrading our QB situation, since this could be PM's last year (or at least his next to last year), Oz is still unproven (and, I think, in the last year of his contract), and we have a new HC with a new offensive system.

If Elway and Kubiak think that Grayson is well suited to doing what they want our QB to do, I think it makes good sense to draft him or to get anyone else who is a good fit to replace Manning in a year or two (or even this year in the event of injury). That the team offered Kubiak's backup QB in Baltimore, Tyrod Taylor, a multi-year deal suggests to me that the team likely is in fact looking to upgrade the QB position.

Now while I agree this is the time of year for disinformation I do think this is a kid that could be on the Denver Broncos. He has what they are looking for in the quarterback position and being a Colorado Kid doesn't hurt either. At this point I do think either Grayson, Petty, or Hundley will end up a 1st round pick. QB's seem to get pushed up about a week or two before the draft because of teams so desperately hoping they can find that next franchise guy plus getting them at the end of the 1st means you can lock them in for the next 5 years for cheap instead of just 4. So I honestly think the Broncos would have to use their 1st round pick to get him. Which honestly now that we have 10 picks in this draft I don't think that would be the worst thing for them to do. It all depends though how they truly feel about Osweiler. If they are still very high on Osweiler and think they can get him resigned after the season then no need to use such a premium pick on a guy that most likely just sits on the bench for the next 4 years.

Right now I just have no clue what they think of him though as the attempt at signing Taylor was a bit of a surprise but I found out the offer they made him actually was closer to about $1 million a year with a few escalators if he started kind of thing but he was actually just going to be paid like a regular back up. So not as damning against Osweiler as first thought.

Also BroncosBaller you picked one of his worst games to show. His Head Coach had just got hired by Florida before this game so he and the team were having to work through all of that. So not sure I would read too much into that one game. For me I look at does this kid show that he is coachable and has been able to improve throughout college. For Grayson both of those have shown to be true as his completion percentage improved in all 4 years, his touchdown to interception ratio improved, and his yard per attempt all improved. So for me I see a kid that has yet to reach his peak as a player.

Not a ringing endorsement. Could show Grayson doesn't handle pressure well. Not a trait you want in a QB for a team aspiring for a SB win.

It could be an issue. I don't know honestly. I've seen him make 4th quarter come backs before though too. I'm just a fan of the guy as I think he is the 2nd most pro ready quarterback of the bunch beyond only Winston. We have one year to figure out who the future of the position is and right now I'm just not so sure the team is sold on Osweiler being that guy. Of this draft of the guys that we realistically have a chance of drafting Grayson is the only one I like. Hundley lacks accuracy and that isn't something that fixes itself very easy. Petty in my opinion is 2-3 years away from being a good starter in this league and has to go to the right situation to make it work. Mannion of Oregon State might be another to look at as he had a terrible OL that really hurt his numbers this past year but again that is taking a huge risk on a guy that hasn't shown much in college. Nobody else really jumps out as a guy the Broncos should look at. The issue is we are really running out of time. Maybe last year I say we take a chance on one of the more developmental guys but now we have reached a point where we need a guy that can spend a year learning the system then step in the next year ready to go. Like I said Grayson is the only one I see.

Watched Grayson on Grudens qb corner or whatever it's called.Gruden spoke highly of him and said he thinks he is going to be one of the big sleepers in the draft. I've been tooting his horn before bowl games even started. Kid is going to be best qb in this draft in a couple yrs and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Denver grabs him in 1st rd. He won't be there at 56 so if they like him as much as I think both Kubi and Elway like him and the growing concern that Oz might not be in their future plans,it would make a lot of sense. You still have 9 pks left to add quality players. Just hope he's there at 28.

If you want to see a game that makes you wonder how in the world this kid isn't a 1st round prospect then I highly recommend you watch his game against Wyoming this past year. He went 18-21 with 1 of those being a drop and another being a questionable should have been a pass interference call. He had 390 yards and 5 touchdowns in that game making it the best game by any quarterback in college football this past year. At least by quarterback rating.
