More work went into making this video than D&D put into writing season 8:
Pretty much agree on the first three points.
However, to be fair, the Maggy prophecy about the valonqar was only in the books and not in the show;
Whenever I see this I'm always reminded of why I stopped watching GoT in season 5.Anyway, The Ringer did a ranking of all the episodes in Thrones...

Nothing terribly surprising really.
I wrote about this earlier, but what if one of her earliest memories was being escorted out of the city while the bells were ringing when the mad king and his forces surrendered? That would bring symbolism to the bells ringing and bring us full circle back to the mad king.
That would have been perfect had Daenerys been a toddler or a young child during the sacking of King's Landing and they had actually set it up somehow. However, she was born on Dragonstone after her mother and Viserys had evacuated on their way to Essos.
Is it possible that when word got to Dragonstone that the mad king had been defeated and Baratheon won, the bells rung, signifying they had to get the hell out of there????
Yes. For a moment there was the possibility she would just reduce the Red Keep to rubble and that would have likely been "ok" in that she was just making sure Cersie was history and not the entire city.
But not to be.
Dang, I just saw that Grr Martin wanted this to be ten seasons.
I don't think this is going to go down as one of the worst finales ever but GoT not going ten seasons sounds like one of the dumbest decisions ever.
I recall scenes where Cersei is letting people into the Red Keep and basically putting them up as shields.
While not desirable if Dany went right after Cersei and the castle and people in the Keep died as a part of it this would have been undesirable, but forgivable.
I think in the end the appeal of Dany is that she had this duality. They certainly played up the madness she came from. I personally believe Viserys was there to further highlight the entitled crazy that was possible in Targaryen. Every time she seemed close to that crazy and pushed back from it we loved her all the more for fighting off that side.
But that side was always there. Again, the rush to completion REALLY compounded the situation and made it worse. But the heel turn was always possible.
She told the Dothraki numerous times they would tear down their stone homes, etc. Did many just believe that was what she “sold” the Dothraki on to cross the sea? I think she always meant it.
She had a warped sense of who her enemy was. I doubt she remembers the exodus, or the bells for that matter. But more so she was taught the horror they endured by their enemies again and again from people like Viserys. Hardly creates a pragmatic view. Especially when the man that overthrew her father and family was always sending assassins to find her.
It’s not an excuse to me, not ok with the leveling of the city (or the whole city minus the small council room). But I think the undercurrents were always there for this to be possible. It was part of what made her compelling. But it seriously got fucked in the rush to a close.
Whenever I see this I'm always reminded of why I stopped watching GoT in season 5.
Oh well , doubt other kids their age will connect the dots.Just think of all those people who named their kids Daenerys or Khaleesi...
Nah, I had planned on getting back in after the show finished. It might be in the next couple of weeks, to be honest. You consider this a good decision? Might be one of the worse . Season 6 was bad ass. My favorite in fact. Sorry for your lose.
All things must pass and I'm glad to be done with it.
