wings peaked too early. fell apart late in the season. came up against a hot goalie. maybe they "outplayed" nashville at times, but hockey is not 5 on 5. it's 6 on 6, and nashville's 6th guy was the best player in the series.

once again, congrats nashville, you iust made it on my shitlist. i will never fuckin forgive you for this.

I couldnt. Coming from TN with friends that never watched hockey ever and all coming out from nowhere to claim to be a Preds fan sucks hard. Naturally I am being bombarded by "fans"

Watched the last half of the third period. Did we look like a steaming pile of shit all game, or was it only while I was watching?

I didn't see the first period, but I started watching in the 2nd and about 6 minutes in I said to myself, "I know there's a lot of time left, but Detroit looks done." There just didn't seem to be that cohesion and there definitely was not a sense of urgency for an elimination game. It was weird, I've never seen Detroit play a series like this before.

Yup. Even the last two years when we got beat by the Sharks, it always seemed like the Wings were trying. They were busting ass, they just couldn't get it done. This game was pathetic, they folded.

Congrats to the Preds for not taking a minute off throughout those 5 games, and that's from top to bottom, I wish we had taking a page out of your book. Rinne was certainly the difference; but please don't congratulate those fans, they have to be among the rudest in the conference. How does that fanbase continue to say "you suck" or "it's all your fault" like those ignorant teenage misfits do at college hockey games all the time? And, c'mon, to boo Lidstrom when he is introduced at the beginning of the game? The yeehaws had to be out in full force, since the stock cars must have been put on hold for the game.

Our passing was atrocious, and that's a mainstay in order to be successful; but, then again, we lost by only one goal, so kudos go out to Howie for that one.

And, how can passing from behind the net in their zone work effectively if noone goes to the net? Congrats to Trotz for doing a nice job with the game plan, especially in their end. Having two guys playing high several times, knowing the predictability of what we often do by creating mostly everything from the top, so when the play came out there,, our dman had little time and space to set up many high-end plays. This took a toll on our number of shots at Rinne. In cases where Hank and Pavel were covered by two players, the option to continue to carry the puck to be effective rarely worked for them. But our continued lack of movement in the offensive end to create passing lanes, as well as getting people to the net,was our demise. But, we seem to have guys at the front end of the learning curve who are still not ready for being a major piece in the orchestra, and there are a couple of players on the other end of the learning curve who have forgotten more about how to play the masterpiece than what they do remember. Being able to read the plays, then reacting correctly with immediacy is what seem to be missing here.

I feel badly for Nick and a few other guys who held up their end in the series, but there needs to be a change in the attitude with this team about what it means to play outside of yourself in the playoffs. When you listen, their words seem to lead one to believe one thing is on the horizon, but their actions show something quite different. But, how does that ugly mess in our zone ever be resolved? Somebody get the bulldozers rollin'.

I believe I said this earlier but CONGRATS to the Preds on winning the series tonight. Keep your heads up Wing fans. Funny thing is I actually met some geared up Pred fans a minute ago and couldn't believe my eyes. LOL! @ Hockey in Tennessee!

Spot on. This organization needs to set up a visit with Dr. Ramani, so that next time they go about their business - first, the dusting of the places they missed before using the vac to clear out some of the junk that has been around far too long in the Wings' barn.

What we observed in this series, outside of the Rinne spotlight show, was not playoff-like for those who traditionally wear the red sweaters; and, far too often, it reminded me of the kind of things that are many of the "let's-fix-it" focuses at a summer hockey camp aomewhere. How things have been left to deteriorate this far from what we saw during the record run at home this season is especially mindboggling.

The Preds have arrived. Congrats on the playoff series win Predators fans.

They're going to need to ramp things up in the next round, for sure; since, their next opponent, most likely, will not dispose of as many of their technical side of the game as the Wings did in this series. If the passing, speed level, and management of the game in all areas of the ice for their opponent is at least has a rating of "very good", rather than "somewhat average", the Preds will hve their hands full.

No "X factor"...This year it would have been Helm. Years past it was DMac, Dallas Drake, etc.... Abby could of made a bigger name for himself, but shit the bed without his buddy Helm. Cleary could play the banger/captain chaos role, but he was needed to try to score too much. He was flying all series and if he could of just focused on wreaking havok (not his fault, again we needed goals), this series is over in 5 going the other way.

i wouldn't say they have arrived yet. they got to the 2nd round last year as well. losing in the second round again will be a major disappointment for them considering they went all out at the trade deadline

that's what makes it frustrating. i don't think the preds played all that great in 3 of the 5 games. the wings gift wrapped the series to them in games 3 and 4

You focused on one part of the rubble that might have made things better - the PK/army ant crew, Helm and his injured sidekick, Eaves. Like with any other 3-man pieces that meld on a regular basis with each othe, it's always difficult when one or two of the part escape from the nest for one reason or another. That certainly was a part of what happened to the chemistry of this team, partl because somebody else must fill a role that both takes them out of where and how they were contributing in the other role and this new slot might not be as beneficial to what the success of the team was previously; but, because of the circumstances, "secondary" becomes the call of the day. I'm not sure that Abby can meld with more than a few guys, since I think of him as more of a free spirit, who laces up the skates, puts on his race's helmet, and is on a mission to search and destroy whatever gets in his way. Some of his other skills, though, are questionable, especially the ones that help to progress your career path to higher levels, one of which is in delivering and taking passes. This, to me, is his biggest limiting factor; and, I don't see him being around this barn too many more seasons, mainly because of that. I like the guy, but I see him as always being in a secondary role, which can be filled by a boatload of players possessing the skills that he is missing. And, one of my favorite guys outside of the media spotlight is Miller. Here's a guy with many tools; and, when tossed in with the right pair, plays on another level. He reads and reacts to plays very well, and is an asset on the offensive side, provided that hedoesn't have to ne the primary piece of that threesome to be the defensive sentry. The good news in all of this, though, i that a couple of the guys that are going to help us down the line, who otherwise wouldn't have seen ice time without those injuries to those two, have gotten some work on the front lines, which will help them the next time the invaders show up.

Seriously? I know the Predators were the higher seed, but from a pure talent standpoint the Predators don't have 1 player on their entire roster with half the skill Datsyuk & Zetterberg have. The Predators play a team first game. They rely on their goalie & Rinne stood tall all series long. He was by far the better goalie in the series.

It's similar to what's going on in the Caps vs Bruins series. Holtby is standing on his head & the Bruins need to find a way to beat him.

I almost forgot about Eaves. He might of been the best of the forwards at defending both shooting and passing lanes in our own zone. Those 3 on a line would of outNashvilled Nashville.(if that makes sense)
Players like Bert could then be scoring/creating traffic instead of fighting.

ask san jose fans how beating the red wings has turned out the last couple years. beating detroit in the 1st or 2nd round doesn't mean shit if that's as far as you go.

the goal of hockey is to win the stanley cup, not beating the detroit red wings

Miller is the new Doug Brown. You can throw him on any line, with any center, any time, and he fits in perfectly. He kills penalties, he can run with Zetterberg if necessary, and occasionally even pulls a disgusting move out of his ass.
