Game 2: WVU vs. Towson Game Thread

Wow, I was really impressed by our O-Line. Trickett had plenty of time and made great decisions. Now, if we can just catch the ball.

I had in the preseason predicted Towson would win this one. That was based on several premises:
1. Towson had a great FCS recruiting class.
2. Trickett would be banged up.
3. We'd be demoralized by Alabama.

ALL OF THOSE PREMISES ARE WRONG.

WVU wins big. Towson lost C. Conn. St. 31-24. CCSU isn't as good as UConn.

Towson was great last year, they struggled until last year. They graduated most of the good players from last years team. They will not be much this year.

Anything less then a 28 point victory by WVU is a let down.

I agree...I think that DH will throw the kitchen sink at them and try and get some mojo going with the receivers that had the drops during the Bama game...I see this game Wv taking Towson to the Wood Shed with no let up.......

I just don't see it happening. This team is mostly Holgerson recruits. They are here because they believe in him. He will have them focused IMHO, they have not won yet this year. They were 4-8 last year, they don't want that feeling again. They have gained some respect, after not getting any to begin the year. I think they will want to keep that.

We got 7 votes in both polls after losing the first game. How many times has a team that got picked to finish in 8th place in a 10 team conference that was written off for dead by almost everyone but our fan base picked up votes like that with an opening game loss? They will have this explained to them and they will rise to the challenge.

After what I saw on Saturday, Dana and the staff had this team prepared to play and had them prepared to win. But for 1.2 a dozen dropped passes (nearly perfect passes at that!) and 2 critically bad passes by Trickett (one in the red zone) and they very well could have won. Those big backs simply ran the ball down our throats in the 2nd half. We could not stop them.

If WVU wins by anything less than 25 to 30 - it will not bode well for the forseeable future. If our O-line can keep 'Bama out of the backfield, I think they easily handle Towson. I don't think they run on us, but maybe some pass plays against our secondary - although they did a respectable job against 'Bama and the new passer they played on Saturday. But after last season - I was VERY impressed with the effort by WVU on both sides of the ball.

I am feeling optomistic about this season after what I saw in game 1. hat's off to the whole team. Great effort.

I think DH said it best....they set their own standard game one, they know how they can play and I do not see a let down. If anything I see a team excited about the possibilities.
