@SharksStats: Sharks now 14-14 in Game One. The 13 previous times SJ won a series's first game, they went on to win the series 9 times.

@SharksStats: Antti Niemi now 8-2 in playoff overtime games (5-1 with Sharks). 14 saves in overtime periods tonight.

Still early but not bad.

Bottom feeders unite.

Hey man, Sharks are alpha predators.
We're at the top of the food chain as tonight proved.

P.S. congrats on pwning the Canuckleheads.

If you go up two on those guys, I bet they riot again.

That first OT tonight reminded me of the first OT against Nashville in that game. If my memory is correct Nashville had a ton of opportunities in OT that night.

Same as in the Calgary Game 7 back in 1995. Thank Wade Flaherty for that win.

Most points wins a series right?

:drink:

EDIT: Of course I am drinking, how else do you think they were able to win?

Yeah Sharks get the ROW so that's good for the tie-breaker but damn I hate those 3 point games! :p

Man I'm right there with ya, already watched the Havlat goal 1673264832821 times, love seeing the guys celebrate and build chemistry too. I usually save the recording on my DVR for months. Fun to reminisce during the offseason.

Damm...how many time do we see the Hawks pulled the goalie and Seabrook scored in the last seconds? He just did it again tonight.

Yeah they later showed Ovechkin on the bench, giving himself a shower with a Gatorade bottle as if he was trying to shake something off, saying "WOW". Definitely knocked the wind out of him. Seemed like the 'Great 8' appreciated the gamesmanship from Seidenberg. Nice pop.

There is really nothing quite like an OT playoff game winning goal

I'm interested to see what hitch is going to do with match ups for saturday. Does he put his top D line against the second line or continue to keep it up against the thornton line.

There is only one thing that is certain for Game 2. You can expect the Blues to come out firing on all cylinders as soon as the puck drops. They will probably be the faster team and the more physical team for however long the Sharks allow them to be. It will be up to San Jose to weather the storm, cause Lord knows it's comin! :rain:

By top D line I'm assuming you meant Pietrangelo and his partner Husky pants. Hitchcock also had Backes shadowing Thornton the whole night.
I don't think hitch should change anything. They played well enough to win, but didn't. Be very interesting to see if there are any drastic changes in strategy.

I liked how the Sharks were looking for cross ice passes on the transition. They'd rush up to near center ice and go cross ice to the weak side player who had plenty of space in front of him. It worked a few times, and they'll need to perfect that pass to have better chances of getting offensive.

I just noticed that Niemi was not named one of the 3 stars of the game. The media dropped the ball on that one because he was fantastic. Sharks should definitely be buying him dinner tonight.

For real.

Even if the media doesn't recognize Niemi's greatness tonight, certainly the Sharks do.
