Gotta figure that at least part of the reason they moved Murphy was because he lacked the quickness and speed to be more than adequate at OLB. It's on Preston Smith to be an every down OLBer. I'm assuming they had plans to move him around at several positions. As far as I know, Bates is the only legit backup OLBer, so Scott better find some more depth.

Btw, this absolutely does suck. Galette was poised to have a great season. It really sucks for him. Only 1 mil of his contract this season was for regular salary, and the Skins might not be obligated to pay it, since the injury happened before training camp. I'd like to think the Skins will pay him that 1 mil even if they don't have to. It's the other achilles from last year, so he can make another comeback attempt next year, but that's an awful lot of work.

Well this really sucks. Feel bad for him too, you know he was working real hard and for this to happen back to back years is awful.

Sucks for Gallette. BUt once again points out that the shortened off season and these guys trying to get into football shape in a 2 month time span is not healthy for the players or the game.

I tend to agree that Murphy packing on the pounds all summer kind of rules him out of the OLB slot for at minimum the first four weeks of the season. So that kinda leaves us where we were last year, only worse.

One does have to wonder... if Gallette had signed the long term deal the Skins offered, and had not been pushing so hard to prove what a force he would be.... if this could have been avoided. All he needed to do was stay healthy and he was a lock to start. NOw his season, and maybe his career is over.

I was really looking forward to watching Galette's pass rush in a Redskins uniform. Oh well, this wont be the last season ending injury to one our starters. Next man up, and btw I have no doubt Preston Smith will fill in very nicely.

This Frigin sucks!!!!!! I am so pissed!!!!!!!!!!

No offense but you need to calm down & give it a rest. This is the NFL & all teams are going to experience season ending injuries, suspensions, retirements, etc. It is a given - a good team is prepared & moves on. Why lose sleep over this? It is what it is & none of us can control this. Time for other defensive players to step up.

The only reason we are actually worse off, is the team made the decision to take a solid OLB and ask him to gain weight to play D-line. So now we are ACTUALLY short in our OLB rotation. BUt Gallette.. as much as I was hoping he would produce, has now effecively gotten paid for two years of rehab at the expense of the team.

POtential means about as much as a $1 lottery ticket. I think you are taking it entirely too heavy. Aside from giving you unrealized expectations... what has Gallette done for this team?? HIs biggest contribution has been to have the kindness to at least get injured soon enough that we could make adjustments to not having him. I will take an ACTUAL 3.5 sacks and 16 games played over a potential ten sacks and not a single snap played any day of the week. And I say this as a guy who was pulling for Gallette. But the team made a mistake in depending on him and asking Murphy to make the position switch because of it.

Fair enough but it happened & guess what? It very well could happen again in training camp or early season for another Redskins starter. That is life in the NFL.

Who knows - some other young player could step up & surprise us. That type of situatio is basically how Cousins first had a chance & eventually parlayed it into being a starter.

Stew on this for a day or so & then move on since this guy is no longer part of the Redskins future.
