My logical reasoning of depth on a football team... If player A goes down player B steps in and the team stays afloat without to much of a drop off until player A returns to resume his spot unless player B plays well and they shuffle players 2, 3 and 5 from the line to fit player B into the rotation while player C moves up the depth chart to position B or A unless player D is drafted and is better than all of em.

We will have to agree to disagree then. I was fine with them signing Gallette and actually wanted him here both last year and this year. But its was a tad foolish to place so much on a guy coming back from a season ending leg injury as a pass rusher. I dont think we are any WORSE off now than we were at the end of the season aside from the idea that now we have taken Murphy out of the OLB rotation. Yes a healthy Gallette likely would have made us better, but we are for the most part no worse off than we were six months ago. Our defense SHOULD still improve despite losing Gallette. If it doesnt, then we got bigger problems than Gallette to begin with.

Exactly! And we do btw... A weak pass rush exposes everything on the back end. Adding Norman was nice and resolves one issue however, we are extremely weak at ILB and I question how our safety play will hold up. Kerrigan, while good does not demonstrate enough consistency with his pressure and Smith, while good late last year is still fairly green. We need to address this position unless you think Bates, Trail or Jefferson can provide a punch which I doubt. Our defense may have just leveled out but I don't think it will improve with this injury.

Interesting couple of tweets from Galette. He mentioned on 980 yesterday that he was planning on having surgery Mon with Dr Andrews.

According to the infamous Dr Andrews the surgically repaired achillies is stronger than the original and will never tear. I know this is crazy but maybe next year he will be back and actually contribute?

I would love to see how Andrews can swing that logic, especially since D-Hall tore the exact same Achilles twice within a 3 month time span. And i believe Dr Andrews did both surgeries. I wonder if he did the second one for free. After all, even my car gets 3 years and 36000 mile warranty if they have to replace the motor. :D

Apparently 3% chance of re injuring. This info from Galette, haven't seen a Dr Andrews quote on said subject myself
