I think that might be the biggest factor in this. If Funchess still sucks with Andrew throwing to him, then they move on. It is only one year and the Colts have lots of money to spend so it isn't all that bad. And if he does well and earns his bonuses, the Colts are that much better and contending in the play-offs maybe. Could be a big reward without a huge risk.

They used to say something similar about Benjamin. What a useless piece of shit he was last year. Luck will get him targets for sure, I guess we'll see how that works out. $10M base salary is substantial.

Eh not terrible. It's a 1 year prove it deal (love those) and Luck is a far better passer than Newton (and most QBs for that matter). B grade. Not a bargain, $10M (with $13M incentives) is overpaying.... but 1 year prove it deals with little financial implication (in terms of cap) are generally rewarding. Getting Luck some weapons now that he has a formidable OLINE is a priority for the Colts, since they should spend their draft on defense given the depth/strength of the class and lack of offensive capital.
