Never shoulda let Swarm talk me into it...

Let that be a lesson to everyone. Don't piss me off. Or I'll get Smitty to get Hammer to ban you forever.

Dead money is $12.9 and savings accounts s $11.1

The money they can attempt to recapture is his bonus money. Not sure if that lowers his dead money or not? Might be a @Stomp question.

"Question 1.11c

What is to prevent a player from signing a huge contract, commanding a large (guaranteed) signing bonus, then never playing a single down in the NFL?

Answer: I call this the "Barry Sanders Rule".

Due to the Salary Cap, owners are now investing a greater amount of money up front for players in the form of guaranteed signing bonuses. Thus, the owners must try to protect their investments by including language in the contract that calls for a player to return a portion of the signing bonus to the team if the player “fails or refuses” to practice or play with the team.

In certain situations, a team will be repaid some of the signing bonus it paid to a player (i.e., a refund), or a team will fail to pay part of a signing bonus that was already allocated toward team salary. If this happens, the amount previously included in team salary will be added to the team’s Salary Cap in the next year."

I wouldn't mind bringing in Leon Hall to pair with Slay.

Another savvy vet who can still play and help along with the development of Slay. Unlike the last time when some of us thought there was good CB's in the stable. With Diggs and Lawson it does seem there is talent in the stable. Really liked what Diggs showed last season as a rookie.

Not sure I like them outside on a island. So a vet would be great with those two manning the slot.

We could definitely use 1 more CB but I was surprised how good our secondary was last year in the second half of the season. Once old man river got the hook, the secondary got better very quickly. The kid from Rutgers can move to safety to sure that up when Ihedigbo is shown the door.

So he will back up Quinn and Weddle? One can hope, right?

That would be great. With IAQ in the mix we would not need an additional CB either as he can play slot as well. Austin even says he prefers to move him around. IAQ is also the only decent backup for Quinns role (even though he took over for Ihedigbo). We could then cut the cord on Don Carey.

Our secondary would be all set.

@Old Lion
I loved watching how quickly IAQ and Diggs were closing on plays. Coverage was rough at times, but always seem in position to make plays.

Been awhile since seeing decent talent in the back four. Starting to see depth as well which was also a issue under M&M crews. Mayhew may have finally gotten some shit right on the way out.

Anyone think we have a shot at Eric Berry? Him and Quin would be a sick combo.

Money wise... KC has some choices to make. Sean Smith and Berry are both FAs along with Derrick Johnson. Their cap don't look to bad. They can save by cutting Charles free and riding the young kids who out produced him last year. To easy to manipulate the cap anymore it seems. So who knows?

Now, are you tallingbough wanting to come the Lions or out bidding other teams? Last year some players got grossly over paid in FA period. Old Lion and Big Blue will go crazy if BQ overspends. Them depression babies are tight...

I would rather find someone who is a better all around WR and a rookie with speed and upside.

Here is where we are right now according to Roto.

Detroit Lions

Notable Free Agents: DT Haloti Ngata, OLB Tahir Whitehead, DE Jason Jones, DT Tyrunn Walker, DE Darryl Tapp, SS Isa Abdul-Quddus, G/C Manuel Ramirez, SS James Ihedigbo, OLB Travis Lewis, WR Lance Moore, DTJermelle Cudjo, CB Josh Wilson

Offensive Line: The Lions will hope for internal improvement from young guards Laken Tomlinson and Larry Warford, but C Travis Swanson failed as a first-year starter and Detroit's right tackle position was a revolving door of ineffectiveness throughout 2015. LT Riley Reiff also got exposed in pass protection. This may finally be the year Reiff transitions to right tackle or guard. The Lions need two new starters on the line; one center and one tackle.

Wide Receiver: With Calvin Johnson seemingly poised for retirement, wideout is suddenly among the Lions' biggest offseason needs. Behind Golden Tate, Detroit's current depth chart is rounded out by T.J. Jones, Corey Fuller, Ryan Spadola, and Corey Washington.

Defensive Line: Once the team's greatest strength, defensive line could devolve into a weakness if the Lions aren't careful. DT Haloti Ngata, LE Jason Jones, DT Tyrunn Walker, and DE Darryl Tapp are all free agents, leaving behind RE Ziggy Ansah and rotational DE Devin Taylor as Detroit's only surefire assets. The Lions need more edge rush and bodies to clog the middle.

Defensive Back: While LCB Darius Slay is developing into a legitimate shutdown corner, 35-year-old RCBRashean Mathis fell off a cliff before he landed on I.R. with a concussion last November, and fill-in Nevin Lawsonwasn't a whole lot better. Sixth-round pick Quandre Diggs did have an excellent rookie season at slot cornerback. Strong safety is arguably the biggest concern with Isa Abdul-Quddus and James Ihedigbo both slated for unrestricted free agency.
