...in hindsight of course lol

1) First move...I would still sign Cano

2) second move...I would stay away from Hart, Morrison, and Rodney (Farquhar cheaper and just as good)

3) third move...use the money you save to sign Tori Hunter, Mike Morse, and Justin Morneau

Here's what the lineup would look like

1. CF - James Jones (.343 avg 7 runs)
2. LF - Tori Hunter (.305 avg 4 hr 21 rbis)
3. 2B - Robinson Cano (.304 avg 1 hr 23 rbis)
4. DH - Mike Morse (.277 avg 10 hr 28 rbis)
5. 1B - Justin Morneau (.325 avg 8 hr 30 rbis)
6. 3B - Kyle Seager (.231 avg 6 hr 22 rbis)
7. C - Mike Zunino (.250 6 hrs 18 rbis)
8. RF - Michael Saunders/Dustin Ackley (.250 avg 1 hr 7 rbis/.267 avg 4 hr 18 rbis)
9. SS - Brad Miller (.158 avg 3 hr 11 rbis)

I have a feeling with this lineup protecting Cano he would have more than just 1 hr and 23 rbis. Also Miller hitting 9th with no pressure would probably hit his expected .260 to .270 avg.

What moves would you make in hind sight?

The guys that are hilighted would never have those stats because they'd be Mariners lol (sorta kidding)

My re-do

1. Sign Cano
2. Sign Jose Abreu
3. Release Smoak
4. Sign Rodney

I definitely would have preferred Morse over Hart. I think the season Morse had last year scared people off but in reality he was never healthy, but I guess he has rarely been healthy.
Morneau would definitely not have those stats, he is on the Rockies right now. Enough said. I also I didnt know Hunter was a free agent, I thought he wasnt until after this year.

I agree that the budget would have been better spend signing two MLB caliber hitters as oppose to Rodney.

Morse had his fill of Seattle and wasn't coming back. Hunter wanted to win and wasn't coming here either.

Morneau would have been nice.
Abreu was a guy I wanted, but M's won't go after higher priced Cubans it seems.

My wish list:

Abreu
Napoli
Ellsbury
Crain
Hughes
Chris Perez
Oh, and trade Smoak for Altuve....of course.

And I wanted Hart if he could play the OF in this scenario.

I never saw anything that indicated that Morse didn't want to come back, it just seemed as if the Mariners never had any interest in him. I think that we could have probably landed him for a similar contract that the Giants signed him for had we not shipped him to Baltimore.

Shame about Morse, being injured and then trotting him out unhealthy last year really hurt his stock. He got off to a fire start the beginning of last year too. Torii wouldn't sign here. There's no way we would have taken a risk on Morneau. As for Jose? That would have been an awesome pickup and you can't tell me we wouldn't have forked out more than Chicago. I'll bet we didn't even bid though!!!

I can try and find the quote later, but he made a comment about how they don't know what they are doing in Seattle. It wasn't anything a Mariners fan didn't already know, but I was happy when I heard a guy who has been here twice say it. Truth hurts.

No good players want to come here if they can get the same money somewhere else.

Since the feckless and incompetent M's front office and GM always go for bargain basement horse shit, it doesn't really matter, though.

Cano figured it out within 3 whole days of spring training when he used the media to try to coerce Seattle into putting together a real team. Hope the guy has fun for the next half decade and more getting nothing to drive since he'll be surrounded by utter garbage.

Surprised that he would openly say that and it didn't make bigger waves.

I tried to find it but it is a needle in the cyber haystack. I did find where he said this was the first team he has been on where he talks to every teammate and not just a few. Eluded to that he usually didn't talk to many pitchers on his teams (or they didn't talk to him) before and now he talks to all the pitchers on Giants.

Man I wish I could find the one comment. It wasn't direct, but was clear what and at who he was talking about.
