Yes please get rid of Lauvao

Free agent LG Ronald Leary is expected to command $8 million annually.
The Cowboys aren't going to re-sign Leary, but he's one of the top interior linemen available. Leary had solid pass protection ratings at PFF and is a road-grader in the run game. He should draw heavy interest from teams in zone schemes. The Cowboys are moving forward with La’El Collins at left guard. Feb 3 - 6:31 PM

I have been wondering for 2 years why we didn't take a flier on Collins in the 7th. That still pisses me off. But then again I wanted them to do the same with Randy Gregory.

Do it. That solidify's the line. We could wash our hands with the oline for the the next 5 years and move on. Maybe Callahan likes him and gets in Scot's ear.

If that includes base and bonus, I'd take it, ONLY because Leary would pick up the scheme quickly.
He already knows his opponents pretty well too, and probably is STILL motivated -- a young guy took his job

I been hoping we would go after him for a while now. $8M is a bit more than i thought he would command, but I could live with it depending on how the deal was structured.

Its a no brainer to me. We weaken the Cowboys while strengthening our OLine. He should know the scheme and will give us a top 5 OLine in all of the NFL.

I just hope we have enough money to go around to address the defense. The more I think about it, man, we need alot of help back there and the draft won't be enough.

Good point. I hope we cut as many underachieving and under performing players as possible. There is alot of cap space tied up in players who are over-paid and not healthy.

Duke... I have looked at the numbers... alot. As long as the contracts are done right, we should be fine. Leary at $8M a year average is likely a $4M cap hit this year. I expect Kirk to come in around $16-19M against the cap.

We got this

You are probably right and you and I see eye to eye on most everything. Leary should be contacted at 12:01 and we should put in the full court press.

At the end of the day, I just don't know what we truly "need" on defense. I guess the DLine is the biggest hole I see. I want to see at least 4 new starters on defense (2 DL, 1 ILB, 1 Safety). Would that really be enough though?

For this year, 2 DL an ILB and a Safety would do alot for this team. We cant fix everything in one year. But those four pieces would go a very long way.
