The Carolina Hurricanes announced Friday that the club has agreed to terms with left wing Nathan Gerbe on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Gerbe $550,000 on the NHL level or $150,000 on the American Hockey League level.

Hard to criticize the Jets because they're locking up talent while it's there...but man, they're locking up a core that hasn't seen the playoffs and is going into a more challenging division.

That contract is NUTS!! He's not even a top pair defenseman. Heck he's barely a top 4 defenseman.
