or improve the pass rush which im thinking is the priority.

agreed! nothing disrupts the passing game more than a great pass rush...just look at when guys like Manning, Brees, Brady, and Rodgers struggle...it's when they're scared of not having time and rushing their throws. Hardly ever are elite QBs shut down by defensive backs. It's why teams like the Giants and Ravens have had success...they bring the heat!

Jake Long - T - Dolphins

The Dolphins "remain hopeful" they can re-sign free agent LT Jake Long.

Long's Rams "deal" is getting less and less "done," it would appear. The Rams are still in the driver's seat, but what they turn up in Long's Wednesday physical will be critical. If they find something not to their liking, Long's only real choice may be to head back to Miami on a team-friendly offer.

A source close to the situation telling me that Welker has gone back to the Patriots to see if they'll match the offer #PatriotsTalk

I'm not buying he leaves New England BUT the ONLY place I could ever see him leave NE for is Denver.

Bucs GM Mark Dominik says the team was glad the 49ers didn't franchise Goldson.

Uh, yeah. Obviously.

if we had franchised him a 2nd time, could we have traded him? apparently we knew they were very interested bc they tried to trade for him last year. any cap implications on a move like this? would've been interesting to see if we could've gotten a 2nd rounder out of it...

Agreed to terms on a 1-yr deal with LB Stewart Bradley. Solid addition who adds competition to our linebacker unit.

Goldson's role with Bucs
March, 13, 2013 4:01PM ET
By Tom Carpenter | ESPN.com

Dashon Goldson visited with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wednesday, and they didn't let him leave, inking the safety to a five-year contract. The contract is worth $41.25 million of which $22 million is guaranteed.

As fantasy junkies know, the Bucs secondary was a total mess last season and provided the opportunity for even mediocre opposing quarterbacks and receivers to have excellent performances against them. The addition of Goldson is a step in the right direction for their secondary. Read on as ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas breaks down what Bucs fans should expect from their new safety:

Pat Yasinskas
The book on Dashon Goldson

"[L]et’s run through some stuff from ESPN Stats & Information. The two-time Pro Bowl selection has nine interceptions over the past two seasons. That’s the third most by any safety. Goldson, who carried the franchise tag last year, was part of a San Francisco defense that helped the 49ers get to last season’s Super Bowl. We all know that the Buccaneers were the league’s worst pass defense last season. But acquiring Goldson could go a long way in changing that. With Goldson playing a large role, the 49ers didn’t give up very many deep balls the past two seasons. The 49ers ranked among the top five defenses in the league in completion percentage, yards per attempt and interceptions on passes of at least 15 yards downfield over the past two seasons. On throws of that distance, Goldson produced six interceptions over the past two seasons. This guy has the ability to be a center fielder, which would allow Mark Barron to be more of a true strong safety as he enters his second NFL season."

Interesting to see how other teams evaluate Beanie Wells right knee. #azcardinals were not optimistic about it.
