I'm thinking granderson is a real possibility.
We do need another RH power stoke...kinda hope it's not Cruz myself.
Maybe another trade.

Why would you hope it is not Cruz. I don't understand why Cruz is so under valued by a large portion of our fan base. I think it has a lot more to do with one play than his over all body of work which is silly. Maybe I am wrong though and a Cruz homer but still the dude did a ton for us and was on his way to a career high season last year amidst a PED scandel.

Cruz may not be the best way to improve this team.

He also may be the best way to do so... who really knows for sure. I would maybe prefer Cano or Choo over him but that is about it and I think Cruz would be significantly cheaper than either which leaves yet further room for improving the team and adding depth.

meh, I saw this coming when we signed Soto to be out "number one" so I am not that shocked. Still had a little hope that that was some sort of cover but there are still a a lot of tasty options on the market. I think the Rangers still have one more blockbuster trade up there sleeve in addition to maybe grabbing a to FA. Should get interesting really soon.

The rangers were in on McCann till the Yankees made it too rich for their blood.

He may be. I'll leave that decision up to the guys in the front office. I was simply referring to nightcrawlers sentiment of, "at least sign Cruz".

Yeah, I am sure they were but they would have fought a little harder had they not made that move early. I'm pretty confident they would never have wanted to go fives years with Alfaro getting closer though.

That's a good thing. The fielder trade allows them make smarter decisions in the FA market.

I am aware that teams overpay in FA and that most players in this day and time are paid boatloads but the contract that McCann just got for his age and decline in BA and his 20 something HR's per year is too rich for me as well.

indeed, I'm hoping for one more solid bat, a decent starter just in case Harrison doesn't bounce back, and a solid closer. Although, I sort of expect them to just go with something they have at closer. I can see Soria there but he really didn't impress me last season, so maybe Cotts or Scheppers. They really do have the pieces there already but it would be nice to have all of them as set up men.

Honestly, any MLB deal is too rich for me. I can't even fathom spending that much money to pay a dude to play a kids game. But I am glad someone does, because otherwise my summers might get pretty boring.

Nathan's first year off Tommy John wasn't impressive either.

Agreed. There's smarter ways for the rangers to spend their money than that.

Yeah, its rare to see anyone come back strong fast from it. I suppose we also still have Feliz too. I wonder what the plans are for him: start or relief. Molina seemed to be able to get a lot out of Feliz, and now he has rejoined the team, he might be able to help out Feliz some here and there. Seems like Feliz listened to him.

Feliz may take a while to get going as well.

True, he did look a lot better than I thought he would though at the end of last season but his velocity was down and that is really his major weapon.

His velocity will be fine. People who have that surgery trend to be the beneficiary of an uptick in velocity.

Not happening, according to my guy. I was wondering the same thing but apparently there aren't enough matching pieces. They don't need moreland and they don't even need gallo.

Thats too bad, another guy like Prince who could put up big numbers in our park and fill a need. A lot of folks aren't into this guy, but I'm all for buy low.

Wieters and fielder are nowhere near the same tier.
