Just for the sake of discussion, I am curious what everyone thinks about Thomas' value on this team ..

With his contract, how tradable is he ? ... What would you expect in return ?

While I do like Thomas, he possesses the thing I dislike most in a pro athlete - playing down to the spotlight and coming across soft mentally when the chips are down ..

Please don't bring up the fact that he had a boatload of receptions in a laughable Super Bowl

Here is a recent quote regarding his dropped passes:

"I'm not really frustrated," he said, " but I just have to stop dropping it. It's probably trying to move before I catch the ball and not looking the ball in. It happens, but it isn't frustrating."

Perhaps he is simply trying to come across as unfazed, however, it is obvious that he is bothered and this has gotten into his head ..

I would hate to see this team lose a mensch like Sanders because, in part, we have invested so much in a completely unreliable "superstar"

Is Thomas' value on this team worth it ??

Even if you don't think he should be traded, what do you think he could bring in return ??

Well even with all the drops his value is still relatively high. Yes I would be ok with trading him. To me very few receivers in this league are really worth huge investments. We are seeing kids coming out of college and year 1 producing at a very high level. I would rather see that investment put towards the OL and draft/bring in cheaper FA's for the WR position. I honestly think they are quickly becoming the new RB of the NFL of a dime a dozen because so many teams are running these spread offenses so many more college kids are coming in ready to produce. Anyway I would love to see the Broncos see if they can work out some kind of deal with Cleveland for Joe Thomas. Say DT and a 3rd round pick for the services of Joe Thomas. Unfortunately I don't see how we can even begin to think of a trade until next year. He would be a $25 million dead money hit to the team if we were to cut or trade him. Not exactly what you want.

So to me 2016 DT is still a Bronco. If he has another average year though his trade value goes way up in my opinion in the sense of his cap hit wouldn't be that bad for whatever team took him on and the Broncos wouldn't take as big of a dead money hit. I could see this really being something they consider with Sanders then being up for a contract and say he has a bigger impact on the team like he has this year then I could see Elway wanting to invest him Sanders while also getting some value for DT,.

I'm a fan of playmakers and DT is one. You don't get that many playmakers. Like everyone else I've been frustrated with DT, but no way I trade him. Unless some team in the top half of the first round wants to give us two first round picks. ;)

Unless the team you trade him to assumes a large portion of his contract. Highly unlikely though. He needs to get his shit together and quit being a mommas boy and man up. :)

Randymon - the fire burns hot in that one.

DT needs to step up his game or get booed. Yeah - I'd trade him - from what I've seen this season - he's missing JT.

As far as DT goes...it sucks about the contract issues because like Cd and others said.... there is a good influx of wrs coming out and he ( DT) is not playing like the money he`s going to get. Lets see how he shows up rest of yr but unless I see some big improvement, I will not shed a tear if Denver was able to even get a 3rd for him. Watched a guy today, wr from Western Michigan,Braverman I believe, that is quite the interesting prospect. Hope a lot of you are watching some of these bowl gms. I don`t have my eyes glued to them but what i`ve seen, there is some really talented players out there that are pretty exciting potential prospects. Fun stuff. WM is also called Broncos so besides family from there, I`ve always kept eye on them :)

The price tag for trading someone who has been Franchise Tagged was 2 1st round picks. No team is going to trade that for a WR plus then take on a huge contract they would have to sign them to. I am guessing if any team called Elway about a trade they would have jumped on that in a heart beat. Unfortunately the Broncos were kind of stuck. Same with the whole Manning situation in they I am sure knew his talents had fallen off but the idea of cutting a HOF QB is a tough thing to do. Elway tried to get Manning's contract closer to his talent level and at least did get him to take a pay cut but I do think that is one decision that Elway will be kicking himself about in not going with his gut and just letting Osweiler have this team for the year.

Here's the difference with Oz vs. Manning - Instead of the ball coming at you at the designated spot out of the break from Manning - you have to catch the ball in stride going down field or by coming back toward the QB in a clear passing lane. Instead of the ball landing in the appointed spot like a duck landing in your hands - you are catching BeeBees instead. Think Tebow to DT against the Steelers - DT needs to adjust him game. I think he will, but the question is - will it be this season?

I'm not going to make any excuses for DT. I Was firmly in his corner. He got paid, and now he looks uninterested. I see zero fight in him which is unacceptable. For a guy his size with his athleticism, he should be toying with the opposition. He's shown that ability. Now he looks soft

Well he's playing like a candy ass, and that's just the plain truth. I'm the very definition of homer, and I've defended signing DT in the past. But the truth is the truth. He absolutely has the ability to take over a game, he's shown that. Where is that DT.? I've yet to see him this year

Nah I don't trade him. Sanders is entering his contract year, so trading DT means you'd need to invest some major draft picks at the position and the last WR Elway drafted was Latimer.

DT is still one of the most talented WRs in the game. If someone is willing to give up top picks for him, I'd have no problem moving on, but with his contract and a semi-down year, I doubt you get much of a haul. I think DT is still developing a rhythm with Oz. Once that happens he'll be one of the elite WRs again.

LOL - DT has a 1,000 yards - Sanders will have a 1,000 yards this evening. This is one of the worst Bronco offenses in history - yet they have 2 1,000 yard receivers.

The Broncos already decided - they are keeping DT - he would cost too much to cut or trade. Sanders will be at a high water mark of his career - it will be much tougher to keep him - without a Denver discount.

I believe there is a trend lately - in that college receivers are coming into the league - ready to dominate (the cream of the crop - anyway). We don't even talk much about the WR coming into his 3rd year anymore. Ask Latimer - everyone thinks he is late. Latimer is playing behind Sanders - when physically he is a better replacement for DT - that tells me the Broncos know Sanders will be hard to re-sign.

I agree we are keeping DT. Contract wise it is almost near impossible to trade him possibly until the 2018 season. I think he will bounce back eventually and become a dominating figure for us. Just very disappointed in his season. Yes he has a thousand yards but beyond the stats we just see a guy that hasn't always done great at fighting for the football. He has also had a ton of drops (leads the NFL last time I checked). Not what you expect from a guy you just signed to a huge contract. Honestly I think there are 2 major reasons for his struggles this year. 1) Him sitting out most of the off season lost a lot of time of learning this offense and building that timing. 2) The switch from Manning and his style of play to that of Osweiler. The come back routes are where I see it most. With Manning he is releasing the pass half way through DT's route where he is turning around and the ball is right there. With Osweiler he is waiting a half second more and expecting DT to come back and get the ball. That is a timing issue that they have to work on. This is why I think getting the Bye week could be so huge as I think it could be a great time that Os and the WR's could stay that week and just work on timing of the routes.

I agree with most that after getting that new deal, he'll be here for at least another couple years. He's still a physical freak that can give an DB nightmares, but I think more than anything, his motivation is being called into question now that he's been paid. I personally think he's just going through a shitty spell with his drops, and I'm feeling a huge game from him tonight.
