Wow, 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

The Bears D was stout without signing Quinn - money that could have been used to acquire a better QB

Just spit ballin here

Sigh.

Trubisky buries us for a half decade will be the look back story.

Great signing of Quinn to an already excellent defense.

Foles is a solid backup and starter if Trubs struggles....

As in you think Foles will get hurt or that it's worthless to pick him up?
Foles will get hurt.

Foles not being all that good to begin with (albeit better than what we were throwing out there last year) is not setting the bar nearly high enough.

We'd all like something better, but there's only so much that could be done. Pace went all-in on Mitch so he built the team up around him. Looks like a bad move in hindsight so the ability to pivot is limited.

If Foles recaptures some magic he had in Philly, it could be a baller move to get Foles. We just don't know yet. It's possible that Foles wins the job (or just gets handed the job) which finally lights a fire under Mitch's ass... then Foles gets hurt allowing Mitch to step in and finally realize some of that potential en route to a playoff run or something. Stranger things have happened: like Foles looking like Tom Brady while leading the Eagles to a championship.

At least Trubs will have serious competition in camp, if they have camp. That's all I can ask for at this point considering the remaining FA qb's.

The Bears seem to have moved on from Trubisky.

Maybe, maybe not. Considering Foles' injury history and career mostly as a backup, it'd be wise to have a wide open competition and let the best man take the job, whoever it is. If that's Foles then great, or if it's Trubisky then fine. The hope is that the competition makes both better, not that one wins the job because the other sucks worse.
