I like this - it's a short term deal and he's played well this season

I'm good with it. Shorter term, no NTC. Little more expensive than I'd hoped but that's par for the course these days. Cap is project to go up 10% or more next summer.

Haha, you're a tough critic if 600k is the difference between what you hope and what's not pretty.

I just hope he continues to prove himself and it wasn't a 1 year deal type of motivation. It certainly didn't seem to be though

I'm still a bit cautious with Mason, but at least this contract has steal potential. The years will also allow Stolarz to play onto the team perfectly if he continues his development. (2 in the AHL, 1 as a backup)

If his play regresses, 3 mil would've been a bad contract. 4.1 will just be ugly

Considering they let a Vezina Winner go in his prime and he's back to playing at that level again things could be better but hey the 17th best stat goalie isn't that bad a signing is it??? I like him at times but not sure how much, he has stolen a few games this year but lately has regressed a bit but if he's nothing more then a stop gap till Stolarz is the man then its ok I guess.

Anything less than $5 million would've been worth it IMO. I think it's a good signing. It's not Bryztacular or anything. It's about right.

$4 mill is higher than I'd like, but lower than it could have been.

That said, woulda been nice if he hadn't been pulled the very next game (even if his team left him hanging on all the goals).

I'm a big believer in the fact that the team in front of a goalie has as much to do with his stats as his own play. Mason has shown he can put up good numbers when the team in front of him actually decides to play some D, so I have no problem with the signing. I agree with a previous poster that 3 yrs, $3.5 mil is about what I would have expected, so $4.1 isn't ridiculous.
