This just makes you wonder if we had acquired Briere earlier and/or kept Williams, could we have possibly won a Cup or even two in the last 8 seasons?

We were very close in 2004 and 2010 even without Williams and he went on to win two Cups of his own on different teams. Yes, a player that was prone to injury, but also a very important piece to the Stanley Cup puzzle for both the Kings and Canes.

Yes, it's quite unnerving when you think about it. Forsberg, Ricci, Recchi, Brind'Amour, Podein, Williams, Gagne, Seidenberg, Handzus, Sharp, Fedotenko, Eaton, Richards and Carter. I'm probably missing a few, but that's a long fucking list as is. These are all guys who were either drafted, signed or traded for by the Flyers at a very early stage in their careers only to be later traded away to win Cups with other teams.

So, we're doing a fabulous job of drafting or recognizing young talent, we're just not being patient enough with that talent.
