Yep run dmc sounds great haha! Yep Downies been the spark he's gritty and can play hockey better younger version than Talbot.

Well, he's better than Talbot in every way minus experience, penalty killing and maybe defensive versatility. Right now our penalty kill is terrible, so that does sting a bit. I hope Rinaldo can get adjusted to that role quickly. We just need to stay out of the box mainly.

Stars tonight all go to the Run DMC line. G and Simmonds had good games but those three were terrifying out there.

1) Matt Read - He was stellar again tonight, scored the first and last goal for the Flyers
2) Steve Mason - Big time, especially when the Islanders were fighting back, they gave up a couple but he was great, making 38 saves
3) Sean Couturier - When he was on JT, he stopped him and didn't let him have any big chances

Agreed. I think that the puck handling and playmaking abilities of one Steve Downie are vastly underrated. The puck was following him around all night long and that third line had the Tavares line playing defense for a nice chunk of the game.

You could tell it was going to be a chess match when we had about six line changes in the first two minutes of the game, but Berube stuck with it at home and I thought Couturier was very effective against Tavares. That's how it's done.

Nobody gets the three stars tonight as far as I'm concerned - that was a dumpster fire of a game tonight

Star
1. Thomas - he was real solid in the 3rd. Didn't get tested prior to though.

I dont really think anyone played real well for the flyers in that one.. So I'm going with OK people and goats.

Ok
1. Mason - seemed to get rattled with all the bodies tonight. Still stopped most of the pucks that came his way though. Mightve been able to stop the wrap, but not a weak goal

2. After blowing it early, Simmonds turned in an OK game. He was flying up the boards in the 3rd. Also liked his lack of celebration on the goal, knowing the flyers were playing poorly against a team they should beat.

3. Coots and read looked Alright.

Goats
1. Keeping their feet moving. How many times did they turn the puck over passing 2 feet in front of them to a stationary guy. Jesus that was annoying.

2. Passing in to people's legs. Note to the flyers, legs are not made of water and the puck will deflect off of legs. Pass it quicker and not to legs to avoid looking like idiots.

3. Hartnell really frustrates me. He's getting points, but it seems like every game he had the opportunity to score 2 or 3 goals and he let's the puck hop over his stick. He also seems to be skating in to Giroux and voracek a lot.

4. Did Brayden Schenn and/or Vinny Lecavalier play tonight?

cant win them all. Think they played good in the 3rd and thomas kept them at bay.

Florida played a pretty good game. To bad we were bad on that 5-3

Flyers just played lackadasical in the first, and then sluggish in the 2nd before playing well in the third - I just hate that the Flyers played that way against a team like that - it's one thing if they play well all three periods and they get beat - I just didn't like any of what I saw tonight, it was bad from the get-go

They were bound to hit a bump can't win them all TT locked it down. Goc was good for them.

Thought Coots played great love how he's shielding the puck using his body. Then creating chances finally learning to be patient and that when you defend well the offense will come. I think last year he lost that as he was pressing to contribute offensively.

True. I have to give the Panthers credit, they played a fairly strong game. That failed 5 on 3 was the turning point in the game though. It should've resulted in a goal and when it didn't, Florida fed off of it big time and just took off. I remember one opportunity in particular during that power play where they passed it around a ton and G had a chance to take a wide open shot short side with plenty of room upstairs and he deked wide of the net instead. Fail.

I agree with this whole statemant and remember that play i started to yell out score because i thought he was going to bury it.

We didnt have our legs moving the whole game in the last few games also. When we started this streak every game we skated from start to finish and didnt give the other teams room to do anything offensively because we were on top of the puck carrier and they had no chance to think. The last few games Buff Isles and Florida we picked and chose our spots to skate hard and fast at the puck carrier. They need to get back to that up tempo game so we can dominate teams like the Floridas of the world.

1) Sean Couturier - He was a beast on both sides of the puck today, great defensively and that shorthanded goal was huge
2) Steve Mason - He was reliable once again and made some huge saves when they needed it
3) Scott Hartnell - His early goal gave the Flyers momentum and it got them rolling in the right direction

1) Steve Mason - He was a rock yet again tonight! Huge save on the breakaway in OT against Colin Wilson and then the save in the shootout against Matt Hendricks was spectacular!
2) Sean Couturier - What a beast he was tonight! He wanted it bad and he got it
3) Claude Giroux - He did score a goal in this game and it's nice to see him getting some goals
