Thought I'd share this...

That would give both teams, if it is approved, an advantage for the season.

It would give each an extra open date and an extra week of practice.

Teams are allowed 29 practices before their first game. There is no advantage
in not playing on the first week of the season. It actually becomes a disadvantage.
(You don't get extra time by not playing on the 1st weekend, you lose a week plus
you lose an open date)

By playing a week earlier than everybody else, you gain a week of reps and an open
date.

It will be interesting to see how the NCAA rules on this.

I doubt if anybody is worrying about the heat.

Hell, HS football season is cranked up by the middle of August in Florida.HS teams
have already played an exhibition game by that time and their regular season will
have already started. Granted, in Florida they have a mandatory water break at the
6 minute mark of every quarter, but those youngsters have been practicing in that heat
since July.

I'm all for it being the headliner for Week 0 of the college football season. All in all, it will be a good game. Don't be surprised if the Canes shock Florida in a close game.

It won't be that bad at night time.

I remember 10+ years ago UM used to play FSU in week one, and they were usually very low scoring. The defenses were way ahead of the offenses that early.

I think the Gators should move ones of their FCS games. No one will go to or watch it any way. So the heat will not matter. LOL Have we counted how many FCS teams the Gators play this year yet???
