As per Flames release. Cgy trades Brett Sutter + Ian White to Carolina for Babchuk and Kostoplous.

Babchuk is a good young defenseman & I like White but his contract demands obviously weren't going to be met in Calgary. Will Sutter be anything more than a 4th liner?

Babchuk probably has more upside than White (just my opinion).

Kostopolous is a ready NHLer and Sutter needed to go.... oops, you said BRETT Sutter. Meh same goes for him.:p

White is a UFA, as is Babchuk...I agree this this looks like a trade just to hopefully kickstart a couple of teams (i.e. shakeup a couple of dressing rooms).

I liked Tommy K. Good guy. Never gonna be a 20 goal scorer, but gives 100% every shift.
Babchuck? Meh. Cannon from the point and showing offensive flash this year... but has been mediocre defensively been an on and off headcase for Rutherford for several years bouncing between the 'Canes and the KHL. I'm not all that sorry to see him go.
