Im not discounting the need at NT. But you are forgetting that we still could land Hankins. I disagree that we need two dlineamn b/c Allen,Ionman,Mcboys, and Lanier aren't going anywhere this year.

At least ONE, if not both of the Mac boys as you call them need to be upgraded. I will take a potentially dominant D-line over another DB any day of the week and twice on Sunday. So yea, we need two GOOD talents on the D-line at present.

I doubt it happens this year. In 2019 yes. If we pass on the Nt's at #13, I believe we go hard after Hankins.

Like I said before give me a Nt that got drafted over a hybrid CB/S?

Payne is not simply an NT, and Vea SHOULDNT be JUST an NT.

And do you really think throwing words like Hybrid actually increases the value of your man crush on Fitzpatrick??

It increases his worth to his team if he can play all the secondary positions. Those guys usually get drafted high. Payne is a 3-4 NT\de. A dt in a 43. Vea is a NT. There are no NFL De's that are 340 pounds. Yes he has good pass rush skills but he will be viewed as a NT or Dt.

Your comparison is a joke. Fitz has Jalen Ramsey qualities and he was a top 5 pick. Plus Vea or Payne don't even have anywhere close as the draft grade that Williams had coming out. Fitz bring more value. If we have a shot at him he should be the pick.

Who are you trying to convince Dean?? You are selling Fitz as this hybrid end all be all. And if available the team should continue to pass up on what could turn out to be some very good defensive line players because the Safety might be "special".

You really think if we draft him they would use those hybrid skills you speak of??

Again at the end of the day, I dont care how special Fitzpatrick is, him making the Pro Bowl does us no good if the team continues to struggle to stop the run and get after the passer. So find me a safety that can rush the passer, Stop the run, and still cover all in the same play.. and Im sold that we should continue to ignore the line to take secondary players.

I'd go vea. The more I hear about minkah the less excited I get. Hes basically a slot corner who can maybe play safety.

I'm a little lower on vea than I used to be also.

And I'm starting to lose interest in Payne even more so.

For whatever reason I really can't find a prospect I'd be excited about taking at 13 other than Barkley, Nelson, or Rosen and none of them are gonna be there.

First of all Claiborne could not play safety. They do im looking at Fitz as a safety slot CB. versatile safeties are very hard to fine. How do you know that Vea is the next Noda? he could be the next Shelton. You claimed to be all about BPA. So if Vea get drafted over Fitz you should be shocked.
how do you know minkah is anything special ?

I don't think it's crazy talk for fans to want the best NT in the draft. I've been yelling Payne for months. We run a 34 and have never had a nose.

I also don't think it's crazy talk for fans to want the best S/CB in the draft considering we lost Breeland, Fuller, our FS missed most of the season, and my Cowboy fan co worker smirked and thanked me for taking Scandrick.

The Skins will only have about 9 million next year according to Tandler. This could be Norman's last year.

I'm really good either way and I truly see both sides of the argument. We were last in run defense, but......we were stopping the run before Allen and Foster went down.
we are at 22 mil without all the raises and using this years cap numbers .

Actually if Vea gets drafted over Fitzpatrick I wont be shocked for a couple of reasons.

1. I think Fitzpatrick is being a tad bit over rated when you consider that in the NFL the best way to stop the pass is not to have lock down corners, but a pass rush that doesnt give the QB time to get passes off.

2. I think Vea gives you a piece to build the type of defense they have had in Carolina, Seattle, Philly and Houston for years. That being a very good defensive line that HELPS out the secondary so you dont need lock down corners.

I have been saying this for some time now and that is the best way to use our first pick of the draft is to address the trenches and on side of the LOS.

TAndler is basing that off of what he figures the cap space to be AFTER resiging or extending guys like Scherff and a few others who will be up for new deals.

So having $9M in cap space with all of our major signings out of the way is not great, but its also not horrid as it would mean the majority of our rule of 51 players are already under contract.

This also does not account for any carry over cap space or guys that might get released.

So we wont be in cap hell per say, but a little bit of cap gymnastics might be in order. The real issue here is that most of the big ticket players we have were free agents we signed from other teams, or in some cases our own guys that we waited a year too long to extend and thus drove up the price on to keep.

He did mention that. He said they could save 8 on Norman.

Yea but saving eight on Norman means we create another need at Corner. Unless we have already addressed that by drafting Fitz (Dean just did his Oh face).

But again thats just treading water by making one hole to fill another. At some point this team needs to develop a strength and STOP tearing said strength apart every couple of seasons. We were headed towards a strong secondary, but we cut that fucker to pieces to get a QB... now we want to rebuild the secondary..... again.

By no means am I in favor of cutting Norman. He has some shortcomings, but he is one of the best 5 on the team (Trent, Kerrigan, Norman, Reed, Scherff).
