Actually if Vea gets drafted over Fitzpatrick I wont be shocked for a couple of reasons.

1. I think Fitzpatrick is being a tad bit over rated when you consider that in the NFL the best way to stop the pass is not to have lock down corners, but a pass rush that doesnt give the QB time to get passes off.

2. I think Vea gives you a piece to build the type of defense they have had in Carolina, Seattle, Philly and Houston for years. That being a very good defensive line that HELPS out the secondary so you dont need lock down corners.
dead on

TAndler is basing that off of what he figures the cap space to be AFTER resiging or extending guys like Scherff and a few others who will be up for new deals.

So having $9M in cap space with all of our major signings out of the way is not great, but its also not horrid as it would mean the majority of our rule of 51 players are already under contract.

This also does not account for any carry over cap space or guys that might get released.

So we wont be in cap hell per say, but a little bit of cap gymnastics might be in order. The real issue here is that most of the big ticket players we have were free agents we signed from other teams, or in some cases our own guys that we waited a year too long to extend and thus drove up the price on to keep.

That prove it doesn't work so well if the guy proves it. Then it costs you more. By saying prove you are banking on the guy not playing well so you can low ball him.

We are dealing with the sharpest mind on the planet when it comes to the cap though. Better to over spend on guys who have proved it elsewhere, than over spend on guys who proved it on your roster. Instead, we over spend getting them to prove it, then flip bat shit when they do and we cant afford them. :thumb:
