I honestly now am leaning towards our pick at 13 being traded. I'm not sure how far down we'll end up but I would only accept offers from the 17 spot (Chargers) up.

It will be interesting to see what kind off offers we will get if Jackson, Mayfield, Ward, or Fitz are still on the board at #13. Do you think Mayfield goes top 12?

I highly doubt that he gets past Denver, but if he does, there's only one team that I see drafting him before our pick and that's Buffalo. He won't get beyond either of those teams without putting us in play for a really, really, nice trade package.

BTW: sorry about the previously garbled post.

So if Fitz gets picked over Vea its a bad pick? Usually a secondary guy who can do everything gets picked over a NT. My fear with VEa or Payne is that they turn out to be the next Danny Shelton and we passed on a guy who has the talent of Jalen Ramsey.
My fear is you pass On the next hnadi Noda to draft mo Claiborne . It works both ways dean . My philosophy is build the LOS .

Now when. We were in ASS trade justification mode I was told hosley and FM , with Dunbar’s made up for fuller and now we have buyers remorse ? Dj and nich seem like a good pair at safety yet we haven’t signed any answers on d/ line

@skinsdad62 YOu know I never even thought of that. For all that Fuller was apparently expendable so we could get Smith.... and for all that people were singing the tune of FM, Dunbar and what all would be awesome.

The same person is now mantastic over Fiitzpatrick.

In order to get the eight wins some of you want, Vea and Payne will help get us there more than Fitzpatrick.

Cooley and JP were talking and they feel of they trade back it will be for Payne, not for a RB.

I am incredibly biased since I'm a UW fan, but I absolutely love Vita Vea. He really did it all at UW and he moves incredibly quick for a guy of his size. I honestly believe he has a ceiling as high as Haloti Ngata.

First of all Claiborne could not play safety. They do im looking at Fitz as a safety slot CB. versatile safeties are very hard to fine. How do you know that Vea is the next Noda? he could be the next Shelton. You claimed to be all about BPA. So if Vea get drafted over Fitz you should be shocked.

im looking at Fitz as a safety. To be fine with DJ and Nickhlson sounds a bit far fetched to me. Classic shark saying we are all set at safety. S and NT are both areas of need. So we are supposed to choose the BPA. right?

BPA has always been subject to opinion. Few years ago you thought the BPA was a DT who happened to be over hyped by the talking heads. Now you are hanging from the Fitz sack. Agreed we need a safety and Defensive Linemen ( thats plural by the way). But as I have firm been a believer, you fix the lines before chasing the sexy skill positions.

I don't think it's crazy talk for fans to want the best NT in the draft. I've been yelling Payne for months. We run a 34 and have never had a nose.

I also don't think it's crazy talk for fans to want the best S/CB in the draft considering we lost Breeland, Fuller, our FS missed most of the season, and my Cowboy fan co worker smirked and thanked me for taking Scandrick.

The Skins will only have about 9 million next year according to Tandler. This could be Norman's last year.

I'm really good either way and I truly see both sides of the argument. We were last in run defense, but......we were stopping the run before Allen and Foster went down.

being this is probably Normans last year its just another incentive to take Fitz.

I will simply say this. People pushing the point that Payne or Vea would be limited to NT are trying to minimize the impact a truly dominant D-line would have for this team. We all know our defense is only in base package about 30% of the time, so a NT is really not a prime spot. My thinking, both these guys are 3 down players and unlike some NTs will NOT be coming off the field in the sub package.

I also tend to think we need at least two you talents on the D-line in addition to the guys we have. Would love to have the stud safety, but some times NEEDS dictate what a team considers the best player available.

At the time Williams was the BPA and filled a need. No he wasn't over hyped. Not hanging anywhere. Give me an example of the last time a NT was drafted over a top CB/S that plays everywhere in the secondary?

I agree that Vea or Payne would be playing 3rd downs. The down four should be RK,PS, Allen and either Vea or Payne. If we pass on those two it would be Ionman.

Again.. and I know its hard for you to keep up when you have your mind set.

But instead of drafting a NT, we SHOULD be looking at both of these guys a defensive linemen who actually CAN play Nose Tackle. NOt drafting a nose tackle over a safety. Both these guys can play every D-line position up to AND including NT.

So i somewhat agree with you. If the thinking is, just a fat guy who can play NT, then neither of these guys should be considered. BUt if you are asking a DB who can play all the secondary positions over a D-lineman who can play any position on the line and in all our sub packages...

Sorry i got to go with the lineman.

These people don’t believe a guy that doesn’t get to the QB is an every down player. They do not understand a guy that collapses the pocket is a good pass rusher because he gives the QB no room to step up.

Im not discounting the need at NT. But you are forgetting that we still could land Hankins. I disagree that we need two dlineamn b/c Allen,Ionman,Mcboys, and Lanier aren't going anywhere this year.
