I think it’s possible. Depends on the size of the shirt. Players are pretty big. I don’t think they should where official shirts, on or off the bench. Only referees should.
But then if Rudy Gobert is wearing an officials shirt while on the bench, maybe the referees will finally consult him on calls.

Morant's father, Tee, told ESPN's Tim MacMahon on Thursday that his family was subjected to sexually explicit and racist remarks from the trio of fans, including one who yelled, "I'll put a nickel in your back and watch you dance, boy."

I don't get the whole statement? I understand the "boy" part is talking down to someone.

Is the statement implying that the person who has the nickel in his back would do anything for money?

I think it is some sort of coin operated monkey term.

Thanks, that makes more sense. A terrible analogy, that shows how far some fans think of things.

Today has been a pretty bad day for competitive basketball.

Although, for the Jazz sake, it might be best for make it 4/4 in terms of games, today.

If the Jazz win game 4, remember, they won 3 in a row last year, in games 2 - 4, before losing the next 3.

Losing leads has been what the Jazz have done in the past.

Stop taking 3's.

You'd be up by 15 if you did that.

Maybe. We ended up shooting 19-43 on threes (44.2%) and 21-38 on twos (55.26%). If all 81 were twos made at that percent, we would have 44.76 made. That times 2 is 89.5. That plus 22 free throws equals 111.5. They scored 111.

Now, I know what people would say. That if we shot more twos, we would have more free throws. But they were a lot of threes that resulted in foul shots today. I feel both teams got a lot of offensive rebounds off missed threes (whether or not they made the resulting shot).

You have to take the open shot. Hope for the law of averages to reward teams who shoot well. It evens out. I was rolling my eyes on Clarkson’s misses from downtown. Mitchell didn’t shoot well, but otherwise, it worked out.

And we did get up by 15 eventually. But this was after.

Was last year the first time in a long time to drop a 3-1 lead? If so, this angle is as off (in my opinion) as Gobert missing one game to a knee issue (with the next game against same team) as the Jazz resting players. Once in a long while is not any different for the Jazz than it is for Golden State. We shouldn’t celebrate if we win on Monday, but Wednesday isn‘t a loss until it happens in my mind. No “here we go again“ for me. We had the 20 something seasons in a row making the playoffs plus a bunch otherwise, so having done something in the past means little to me now.

For any team, or the Jazz specifically?

The Jazz are terrible in closeout games.

In 2020, they went 0 - 3 in closeout games.

In 2018, they had a 3 - 1 lead, and a 25 point 3rd quarter lead in game 5, and needed a 6th game to close the series out.

In 2017, they had a 3 - 2 lead, and needed a 7th game.

In 2010, they had a 3 - 1 lead, and needed a 6th game.

In 2008, they had a 3 - 1 lead, and needed a 6th game.

In 2007, this was the last time they closed out a team the first chance they had, when they beat Golden State, and Houston.

In 2001, they had a 2 - 0 lead, and lost in 5 games in the first round. They went 0 - 3 in closeout games, just like 2020.

In 2000, they had a 2 - 0 lead, and needed 5 games in the first round. They went 1 / 3 in closeout games.

In 1998, they did close out the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio, and Houston the first chance they got.

In 1997, they did close out Houston, the Lakers, and the Clippers, the first chance they got.

In 1996, they had a 3 - 3 tie against Seattle and lost game 7. They had a 3 - 1 lead against the Spurs and needed 6 games. They had a 2 - 0 lead against Portland in the first round, and needed 5 games. So for this year, they were 2 / 6 in closeout games.

In 1995, they had a 2 - 1 lead against Houston, and lost in 5 games. They were 0 / 2 in closeout games.

In 1994, they had a 3 - 0 lead against Denver and needed 7 games. They did close out San Antonio the first chance they got.

In 1993, they had a 2 - 1 lead against Seattle, and lost in 5 games. They were 0 / 2 in closeout games.

In 1992, they did close out Seattle the first chance they got. They had a 2 - 0 lead in the first round against the Clippers, and needed 5 games. So they were 2 / 4 in closeout games.

In 1991, they did close out Phoenix the first chance they got.

In 1990, they had a 2-2 tie with Phoenix and lost. They were 0 / 1 in closeout games.

In 1988, they had a 3 - 3 time with the Los Angeles Lakers, and lost in game 7. They did close out Portland the first chance they got. So they were 1 / 2 in closeout games.

In 1987, they had a 2 - 0 lead against Golden State, and lost in 5 games. They were 0/3 in closeout games. This is just like 2001.

In 1985, they had a 2 - 1 lead against Houston, and needed 5 games.

In 1984, they did close out Denver the first chance they got.

1984 was the first year they made the playoffs, so I covered everything.

Thanks. If they win the series, I don’t care about losing close out games, at least as far as establishing that they have a history of losing with 3-1 leads. I mean, once last year they did and twice with a 2-0 lead in five game series, which who knows what would happen in a seven game series. Every team loses close out games. Not every team loses 3-1 leads regularly.

Well if other teams are rooting for the Jazz to have a long series, one way would be for the Jazz to not close out in their first chance.

It just seems like in 80-90% of series, the Jazz don't close out in their first chance. I wish that number was lower.

It's like when the Jazz get to 3 wins, they'll need at least 2 more games to win the series, instead of one.
