It will be interesting to see how long Dodger Power Brokers will let the team languish. Donnie may be gone by the AS Break. Wallach or Hillman would probably take over on an interim basis. We'll see.

Wallach is a Dodger. It should have been him in the first place.

Donnie held a closed door team meeting after last night's blowout. We'll see if anything changes. The players really like Donnie, which may translate that they feel no pressure from him to perform. His laid-back style doesn't seem very motivational.

I'd like to see a manager like Buck Showalter. He's really turned the Orioles around. Of course, with any manager, you need players who execute and perform. I am still waiting to see what effect Mark McGwire will have. He doesn't have this team clicking with the bats just yet.

Lou Pinniela would turn this shit around quick. I bet he'd unretire if Tommy called him up.

He might, but I've never liked the guy. Another ex-Yankee with an attitude.

As much as this seems to be on Mattingly right now, it's not entirely his fault. He doesn't bat, and it's up to the hitters to execute with RISP. Still, the owners may decide they need a scapegoat, and Mattingly is as good for that as anyone.

Well it's expected, he got his "training" from Torre, never liked him either. Never did know how to handle a bullpen, ruined J. Broxton!
As far as McGwire, disagreed last year when everyone loved that move. McGwire hit some HR's while on drugs, doesn't make him a hitter, he was a career .263 hitter. These guys hit their way to get to the Majors, they just need to start doing what they know how to do, hit! Kemp needs to get his head out of his ass, not hitting, not hitting for power, and 3 errors defensively already!

I must say you can't blame Mattingly entirely, ALL managers are overrated, you either have the talent to work with or you don't, they still have to preform, plus injuries are out of his hands.
Beginning of the year we had 8 decent starting pitchers on our roster, we trade one away, and 3 more get hurt, that's just bad luck, which we have had a lot of the past couple of years.

So it was Torre's fault Broxton gave up that homer in the playoffs to Matt Stairs? Because by my calculation Broxton was never the same after that series...

Braxton spent too much time at the post-game food spread in the clubhouse.

Outlaw, been a Dodger fan forever, had always liked Broxton. He was an selected for the All-Star game for his first half stats in 2010.

On June 27th 2010 against the Yankees Torre brought Broxton in in the 8th inning. He pitched the 8th and never got an out in the 9th. Torre let him throw almost 50 pitches in ONE plus innings. That's a lot for any pitcher, let alone for Broxton who just throws it as hard as he can.

Here are the break downs before that game and after

Before June 27 2010

Inn 32 2/3, Hits 26. Runs 3. BB5 SO 48 Saves 16

Game on 6-27. 1. 4. 4. 2. 1

After 6-27. 28 2/3. 34. 25. 21. 24. 6

I remembered at the time thinking why did Torre let him throw almost 50 pitches in one inning, and I still remember it. Now you tell me, that pretty much was the start of the end of Broxton. He was never the same after that game. Torre never did handle the bullpen very well, sure with the Yankees he had Riveria, but he never blew him up like he did Broxton, plus Broxton is a thrower, Rivera is a pitcher, big difference when you are allowing someone to throw 50 pitches in a inning, plus Torre had just used Broxton the day before! Torre sucked, and Mattingly was a student od Torre!

Outlaw, sorry, I tried to edit my post, but ran out of time.

Anyway, the game on 6-27 was. 1 Inn. 4. Hits. 4 runs. 2 BB. 1 SO

after 6-27. 28 2/3 Inn. 34 hits. 25 runs. 21 BB. 24 SO. 6 Saves

Prior to game on 6-27 ERA was 0.83. Including that game and after his ERA was 8.90

That pretty much tells me Torre ruined him that game!!!

Hey just saying, but the proof is in the pudding!

Well the stats don't lie Smed. Would Honeycutt just stand by and let it happen? Guess in the end it's all speculation because I think I remember Broxton coming in for 2 innings a couple of times, which League/Jansen should never have to do. I like Sillas' post about Broxton's weight though lol.

Hope that closed door meeting lit a fire under these guys. No fire in their bellies. Just watched a horrible LAKERS season with players that make tons of money being a so called dream team. But never played anything like they should have. Now we have a Dodgers dream team that are playing like the LAKERS too. It's early but Don just isn't getting these guys motivated.

If the Dodgers have another bad week, many are predicting that Donnie Baseball's seat will be red hot. To be honest, I'll be pretty disappointed if it turns out that way.

Magic Johnson was on the Leno show last night and there was hardly any mention of the Dodgers. His only comment was it's early in the season and he thinks they will turn it around. Surely these owners must be contemplating more than that.
