Final Fantasy XIII-2

Anybody played this? I just got it today.

I played FFXIII and wasn't impressed.

I played the demo and wasn't too impressed. It reminded me of Rogue Galaxy...except less of a Star Wars feel

Yeah I played XIII. It was okay. Too linear. No side quests, no freedom in character customization. The summon spells were kinda bland.

Its sad that if someone randomly posted the words 'it gets better after the first 20 hours' then I know they are talking about FF13

I literally just started a few mins ago. The graphics are great. I'm playing patty cake with Caius right now.

I agree wasn't horrible some sidequests not enough.IMO the only thing that saved that game was lightning and fang.Don't care for the linear game play or paradigms really hoping they go back to the old battle systems.FWIW the only linear ff games that blew me away were crisis core and surge of cerberus but they were vii spinoffs

Crisis core was great explains the whole story of Sephiroth ,Zach and how Cloud became Cloud

Cool. I might have to play that one and then go right into playing FFVII.

FFXIII was easily the worst FF that I've played (all but the NES FFII and FFXIII-2). I can't imagine the sequel spontaneously becoming awesome, but I've heard it's not as bad as the one before it. 20 hours is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to wait for that kind of shitty payoff. Though in all fairness (reported) I should probably beat 13 before I totally throw it under the bus.

XIII-2 got off to a better start(so far) IMO. They give you dialog choices(not sure if your choices will affect anything though) and added a different type of battle for the more "dynamic" fights.

The dialog reminded me of vii and does affect certain things.I actually liked the way xiii-2 played out more than xiii.But I don't want to say to much because I don't want to spoil anything.Just bear in mind different choices lead to different rewards and paths.I will tell you there is a return of chocobo racing to look forward to
