I feel the same way, preaching to the choir ive never worried about calories though, so there is that. I would prefer a good beer that gets the job done, but if im planning on a marathon i go with waterbeer like keystone/high life/bud light/bush light, generally reserved for 4th of july day time then switch to good beer at night.If you're a stats guy, the r-squared between alcohol % and calories is like .90
In other words... calories in beer come from alcohol, which your body converts to sugar. You can drink low calorie beer, but then you drink 14 of them. I'd rather have 6 pale ales or IPAs or porters and enjoy the taste.
Someone mentioned Natty Light in college. Never drank it unless I was at a shitty house party. We drank New Glarus Spotted Cow (brewed near Madison. It was $5/pitcher instead of $3 for Miller Lite, but like 6% alcohol so you didn't need as much to get the job done. And it was a more enjoyable to drink.
