I will watch hockey this year, but probably won't get too wrapped up any team. At least not until Howson is killed and sold for parts. .

Who knows? You and Jeff may be rooting for the same team by the end of the year... whoever that may be.
I guess I am not a hockey fan anymore.
So fucking tired of retarded management ruining my enjoyment.
I hope the PA and League can't agree on shit and the league just fucking folds.
At least I saved a shit load of money on season tickets and they wanted my son to try out for the Junior Jackets. I will have NOTHING related to that team until that mother fucker gets gonorrhea and dies in a fiery car crash while getting mauled by lions.
ya i'm not saying the flyers haven't gotten better.. just making the point that the turnover in the NHL is ridiculous.. having a guy like Nash that had been on the team for close to 10 years is an abnormality these days unless youve signed a new contract in the past 3 years
he's also going to play in new york where the think about playing offense once or twice a year.. i honestly dont expect nash's numbers to improve at all.. i could see them going down actually.. playing with a better cast i agree, but if the rangers play the same style they did last year (5 goalies positioned throughout the d-zone, and 1 real fast guy ready for a breakaway), nash isn't going to get the opportunity to shine
i guess i have a pretty rare opinion here, but i actually think the rangers got worse with this trade.. the BJs might not have gotten better either, but i definitely dont think the rangers got better
There's no question the Rangers got better. The Rangers won't have their full team until November when Gaborik comes back. Until then Nash is going to be their go to goal scorer. I expect a big year from Nash. He's one of the best power forwards in the game. You know I can't stand the Rangers so for me to say good things about their team is tough.
ya i know its hard, i just really dont see it. i just dont see nash making a big difference at the expense of their defensive minded depth.. plus when was the last time a 3 superstar line worked out well? spezza, heatley and alfredsson? i guess last year's perry/getz/ryan line was solid too
i guess we'll see what happens
One thing to keep in mind is the Rangers have plenty of players to take the spots of Dubinsky & Anisimov. Kreider & Stepan immediately come to mind. The Rangers have plenty of depth. I don't think the trade hurt them much if at all.
we'll see DBI, if i'm wrong i'll eat crow.. but i dont see the rangers being dominant. i'll be surprised if they win the east, regular season or post season.
I'm sorry for your pain. Not only do you lose Nash but now all your TV broadcasts will have half the screen covered by Dubinsky's nose.
Its kinda like the Chico trade for NJ. We've had to endure 30 years of him because of it.

Brandon Prust, John Mitchell, Artem Anisimov, John Scott, Ruslan Fedotenko and Brandon Dubinsky are gone, replaced by Aaron Asham, Jeff Halpern, Taylor Pyatt, Micheal Haley, and Rick Nash.
They lost role players and got roleplayers and Nash back. As long as they gel well and assuming Henrik doesn't have a long-overdue bad season, I don't see them having any troubles in an Atlantic division where Jersey, Philly, and Pittsburgh all got worse or held steady. Actually, I suppose Pitt got better just because it got Crosby back *mutters darkly to self* but their D is still reaaaaaaaaaally suspect.

Kreider only played during the playoffs. Torts dumbed down the playbook for him so to speak. He's going to light the lamp plenty. If Sauer recovers from his concussion their defense will be better.
The Penguins will hopefully get a full season of Crosby which will help, but their D leaves a lot to be desired & Fleury will need to bounce back from a horrible playoff performance.
The Flyers lost Pronger & Carle. They traded JVR for Luke Schenn. Sorry, but the D still needs help & Bryzgalov is as inconsistant as it gets in goal.
The Rangers got better this offseason & as did Carolina in a big way. The road to the finals got tougher for the rest of the Eastern Conference.
What part of this post reads like I don't think New York will do well? They won the conference last year and while they didn't get AMAZINGLY better this offseason, they did improve in a division where two or three or four teams got worse.
The only way New York stumbles this season is if Lundqvist finally has a bad season/gets hurt, or if the locker room is tossed around too much by all the change. Talent wise they are all set.

THe one thing I can say about the BJs this year is that their forward depth will be stellar. The top end may not be contender calibre but they have a bunch of guys who have top 6 potential.
Prospal
Johansen
Brassard
Atkinson
Foligno
Anisimov
Dubinsky
Umberger
Outside of Prospal those are solid assets who are young. They have no ELITE guys but they can fill about 8 forward positions with guys who have some skill.
If you ask me the BJs will be significantly better than last year.
They might still finish last or second last but I think they'll be harder to play against and a better team this year.
