I've pretty clearly said that Fed's backhand will break down in best of 5 matches against Nole and Nadal.

Winning best of 3 matches is nice. Fed's at a point in his career where that's about as big of a win as he's going to get, really.

I'm happy to see him doing well at the WTF, but again, there's a reason he has only 1 major in 5+ years. It's bizarre seeing tennis fans who can't accept reality, but not really unexpected, I guess.

Novak losing a match to an over the hill Federer speaks more about Fed's greatness than anything else. Also Novak should have hung up his racquet in shame after failing to win a French open yet again earlier this year!!! Nadal at 50% and an aging Fed in the field. What a golden chance!!

I agree it's a great chance for Fed.

Would love to see him take the wtf.

The ONLY year he finished out of the semis was in 2008.

Is the finals here a best of 3 or best of 5?

I agree to an extent about Feds backhand. That said if he wins the first 2 sets in 77 minutes in a best of 5 I think he could probably hold on. Feds big thing yo win a few more slams is to get off to better starts

it helps the WTF are on very fast hard courts with a lower bounce than at the us open or aussie open. i think fed has a strong chance of beating anybody on an indoor hard court even if it goes 3 sets. if it were best of 5, though, nole and even rafa would eventually break down his backhand.

it's why i keep saying over and over, his only chance to win another major is on wimbledon grass, and he'd have to most likely do it in 3 against nole.

this was fed's first win over nole at a WTF since 2010, so good for him.

great year for fed overall. loved seeing him back in a us open final for the first time since 2009.
