Even though all 13 FCS conferences (and all 4 independent programs) announced that they were postponing the 2020 football season with the hopes of playing in the Spring, some of those same leagues left the door open for individual members to still schedule non-conference games this fall. Fifteen teams from five different conferences have decided to do just that. Most of those teams only scheduled a handful of games so they can still play a Spring schedule if it comes to pass.
Campbell & North Alabama of the Big South have scheduled 4 games apiece; Missouri St. & North Dakota St. of the MVFC have scheduled 3 and 1 games, respectively; while the SoCon's Chattanooga, Mercer, Western Carolina & Citadel have schedule 1, 2, 2, & 4 games.
The OVC's Austin Peay and Jacksonville St. have scheduled 3 & 4 games, and conference mate Eastern Kentucky went all-in with an 8-game schedule. Central Arkansas of the Southland Conference opened up with a 24-17 win over Austin Peay in the only game from Week Zero, and has 8 more games on their Fall schedule. Neither EKU nor UCA is expected to try to play a Spring schedule, and may try to add another Fall game or two.
Abilene Christian & Houston Baptist of the SLC are both playing 3 game Fall schedules & could still suit up in the Spring. Fellow conference member Stephen F. Austin has 5 games scheduled this Fall, so they might also have to sit out the Spring.
There is also one Division II team - West Texas A&M - playing a 3-game Fall schedule, and the NAIA's Oklahoma Panhandle St. has a single game scheduled.
The SWAC is the only conference that has actually announced a Spring schedule. They will be playing 6 conference games beginning February 27th, and will allow each team to schedule one non-conference opponent. They will also have a conference championship game afterwards.
